I've done a complete 360-degree turnaround, with River Rock. When Stampin' Up! first introduced it as an In Color a few years ago, I didn't like it at all. Once it made its way into our core colour range, and I played with it more, I grew to really love it. It really is beautiful, paired with Always Artichoke.
Here's my card for this week's challenge:
Stamps: Baby Bundle, Short & Sweet, Confetti
Card: Confetti White, River Rock textured, Whisper White
DSP: River Rock and Always Artichoke Patterns Designer Series Papers
Ink: Always Artichoke and River Rock stampin' pads
Other: Always Artichoke seam binding, Clear Circle die, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Owl Builder punch (tiny heart), Basic Rhinestones, sponge daubers, Stamp-a-ma-jig
What a cute card, Christine. Love the wee baby sitting in the paper-pieced pram! I'm the complete opposite when it comes to River Rock - loved it to death when it was an In Colour and have completely ignored it since it came back - until this challenge! Must use it again!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered Always Artichoke over the weekend and it is a lot nicer than I thought. I love how you have done the card- I have most of what you have used and 3 pregnant SILs so I may have found my inspiration for their cards!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet baby card. The colours are perfect for it. I agree with you on river rock it is one that has to grow on you.

Wow Christine, I'd have never thought to use those colours with a baby card but it turned out fantastic. I always love your creations!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your card, I had the exact same thought as Rachel - WOW!!! Christine, I never would have imagined these colours for a baby card, but it looks absolutely fantastic!!!! Fabulous use of the challenge colours!
ReplyDeleteI loved RR as an incolor, especially paired with Pomegranate, but haven't given it much love lately - you've inspired me to rectify that! Thank You ♥ Bubby looks so cute perched in his spotty pram & I love the sprinkling of hearts. Hugs :)
You really did think outside the square to make a baby card with these colours and you 'pulled it off'! Fantastic layout with such variety of stamps. So glad you could join us at Dynamic Duos.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a lovely colour combo, one of those 'never would have thought of it but it really works' combos. Gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteI agree! River rock was not a FAV in colour ... But do really like it now. Should use it more often cos it is a great 'neutral' to go with lots of other colours. This is a sweetie! Love this combo ... So going into my FAV combo file! Hgs xxx
