I found this colour (or are black and white technically 'tones'?) scheme rather formal, so to lighten it up a bit I added a few lightly crumpled flowers here and there. Here's the end result:
Stamps: Elements of Style, Sincere Salutations
Card: Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: Whisper White craft stampin' pad, Versamark inkpad, Basic Black stampin' pad
Other: Black embossing powder, Mat Pack and Paper Piercing Tool, Basic Rhinestones, Neutrals brad, Itty Bitty Shapes flower punch, Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, mini glue dots, Stamp-a-ma-jig
what are you like - (a) its a great card (b) its my favourite colour combo (c) yes I do get the Red bit (d) yes they are tones but really .... do you need to worry about that bit? LOL
ReplyDeleteAs usual you are a super cool super quick card maker and I love it :)
A great card Christine, love the scatter of little flowers. I like your idea of Black & White with a 'splash' of Red...that might make it to one of the JAI colour challenges in the future...who knows!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to do this challenge after school today - I just love black and white cards and yours is gorgeous. That white stamped on black is ....so rich looking. and I love those tiny little flowers you've added.
ReplyDeleteI used to make black and white cards with a touch of Taken with Teal....I haven't found a replacement yet - red is a good choice.
This is lovely Christine, love the white stamped over the black, good to see sincere salutations too, may have to bring mine out for another play.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you stamped your own background, and those itty bitty flowers look great.

ReplyDeleteOh, and I soooo get you - just an itty, bitty splash of red for a bit of colour "pop" ... but you have combined these two tones perfectly to achieve a piece of beauty!!!
Gorgeous card Christine!! I know the temptation to add just that pop of colour, but your card is beautiful just as it is!!
ReplyDeleteVery elegant Christine, carrying the same pattern through to the white (but in black there) really ties it all together. I do love those little flowers too!!
ReplyDeleteKim
