JAI #228: STAMPIN' UP! BUNDLED BABY FOR A COLOUR CHALLENGE

Kim has set us a great colour challenge at Just Add Ink this week.  It's great because it's a bit "out there", and really sets you thinking!  Here are the colours we want you to use on your papercraft project:

I was delighted to realise that these colours are in the Park Lane Designer Series Paper pack.  After trying a few combinations of paper patterns, I ended up using just one, favouring my "colour of the moment", Blackberry Bliss.

Here's my "rustic" baby card, using this week's challenge colours:

Stamps: Bundled Baby, Big News
Card: Naturals White, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow
DSP: Park Lane Designer Series Paper
Ink: Blackberry Bliss and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Calypso Coral,  Rich Razzleberry and Skin Tone Blendabilities
Other: Deco Labels framelits, Large Polka Dot embossing folder, Blackberry Bliss stitched satin ribbon, Owl Builder punch (hearts), sponge dauber, Mini glue dots, stampin' dimensionals

The rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team have made some beautiful cards using this colour combo; you can check them out here.  Won't you join in the fun, and make a card or other papercraft project using these colours?

STAMPIN' UP! HOLIDAY HOME SNEAK PEEK - PART 2

Welcome, to Part 2 of my little series of sneak peeks of the fabulous new Holiday Home stamp set, and Homemade Holiday framelits, that will be released on 28th August!

In our upcoming Holiday Catalogue is some gorgeous, cardstock-weight, Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It is great for making boxes and other 3-D items.  After I'd spent a few hours playing with this paper, making sweet little boxes for an upcoming Stampin' Up! workshop, I had an idea that thankfully translated just as I wanted it to, on paper!

One side of these cardstock-weight sheets has white embossed patterns.  I decided to stamp some little houses, using the Holiday Home stamp set, on the embossed paper and colour them with Blendabilities.  I just LOVE the translucent result - isn't this cute?

Here's one I stamped onto a scrap of DSP that has a Garden Green herringbone print.  I coloured over the top with Blendabilities:

Here are the cards I made using these little houses, and based on my favourite layout from yesterday.

Stamps: Holiday Home (avail. 28/8)
Card: Garden Green, Whisper White
DSP: Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack, Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper (both avail. 28/8)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento inkpad, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake Blendabilities, White Chalk pen
Other: Homemade Holiday framelits, Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, Modern Label punch, sponge dauber, Lucky Stars embossing folder, glue dots

...... and a slightly more "rustic" design, bringing in more browns:

STAMPIN' UP! HOLIDAY HOME SNEAK PEEK - PART 1

It's only 10 days until the release of the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue.  I have a sneak peek for you today, of the very cute Holiday Home stamp set and matching Homemade Holiday framelits.  I'm in Christmas card mode, but can see so many possibilities for this lovely bundle of products.

First up is a card I made using the Holiday Home stamps, and the Trim the Tree paper stack (great sized sheets for card-making).  I merrily stamped and coloured the houses, and attached the panel to my card - then realised I was going to die-cut them.  Let's just say I did this intentionally, to show how you don't "have" to cut out the houses!

Stamps: Holiday Home (avail. 28/8)
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White
DSP: Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper stack (avail. 28/8)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento inkpad, Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler stampin' pads, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Blendabilities
Other: Modern Label punch, sponge dauber, Cherry Cobbler seam binding, glue dots

My second card uses paper from the same paper stack, but this time I stamped and coloured the houses on Crumb Cake card.  I've used a couple of my new favourite "star accessories" on this card:

Stamps: Holiday Home (avail. 28/8)
Card: Garden Green, Whisper White, Crumb Cake
DSP: Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack (avail. 28/8)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento inkpad, Garden Green and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Garden Green stampin' write marker, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities, White Chalk marker
Other: Lucky Stars embossing folder (avail. 28/8), Confetti Stars border punch (avail. 28/8), Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Modern Label punch, glue dots, sponge dauber

I am having so much fun with these cute new products ... please come back tomorrow, to see a couple more cards I made with an idea that jumped into my head in the middle of the night!

JAI #227: STARRY CHRISTMAS CARD

This week's Just Add Ink challenge is to use chipboard on our papercraft projects.

Whilst I don't have chipboard, I do have Stampin' Up!'s Coaster Board - a bit thinner than chipboard, but thicker than cardstock.

I have received my pre-order of a WHOLE lot of yummy Christmas products, from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue (it goes live on 28th of August).  I've used a heap of them on my card for today's challenge!

The gorgeous All is Calm Designer Series Paper determined my colour scheme of Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon, with Whisper White.  Silver accents are perfect with the blues.

To create the feature stars, I brayered Soft Sky ink onto my new Lucky Stars embossing folder (I can see this getting a LOT of use this year for Christmas).  I placed a piece of Vanilla Coaster Board inside the embossing folder, and rolled it through my Big Shot ... this created a coloured background, and left the raised stars 'raw'.  I then used my Stars framelits to die-cut the stars.  Next, I ran a Versamarker around the edges of the stars, and sprinkled on a mixture of Silver and Iridescent Ice embossing powders, before heat setting it.  I added the same treatment to the edges of the Lost Lagoon card layer.

Enough talk - here's the pic:

Stamps: Bright & Beautiful
Card: Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White, Vanilla Coaster Board
DSP: All is Calm (avail. 28/8)
Ink: Soft Sky stampin' pad, Versamark inkpad, Versamarker
Other: Silver and Iridescent Ice embossing powders, Lucky Stars embossing folder (avail. 28/8), Confetti Stars punch (avail. 28/8), Lost Lagoon taffeta ribbon (avail. 28/8), Frosted Sequins (avail. 28/8), multipurpose liquid glue, mini glue dots

STAMPIN' UP! TAP TAP TAP BIRTHDAY

Today is my sister's birthday.  I had a lot of fun making Lynda's card, using several new 'toys' from the Stampin' Up! catalogue.

This is the first time I've inked up my new Tap Tap Tap stamp set - such a cute, fun set.  The set doesn't come with a birthday sentiment, so I used my old faithful Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  Because the "Happy Birthday" was too wide to fit on the typewriter paper, I inked the "happy" first with my Calypso Coral marker, and stamped that ... then, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, was able to stamp the "birthday" (also isolated by colouring with the marker) directly beneath it.

Stamps: Tap Tap Tap, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
DSP: Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper
Ink: Crumb Cake stampin' pad, Tuxedo Black Memento inkpad, Calypso Coral marker, Calypso Coral and Smoky Slate Blendabilities
Other: Itty Bitty Accents punch, Spiral Border punch, Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, Neutrals and Brights candy dots, sponge dauber, Calypso Coral seam binding, glue dots

Just for today, my sister and I are twins; we celebrate being the same age for one day of every year; tomorrow's MY birthday! :)

JAI #225: STAMPIN' UP! PETITE PETALS & HEXAGON HIVE

For this week's Just Add Ink challenge, Patrice has come up with this awesome colour combination  to use on our papercraft projects:

I very seldom use So Saffron, but really enjoyed playing with this colour combo.  I have been dying to use my new Back to Black Designer Series Paper, so that was my "jumping off point" for my card.  I've stamped the Woodgrain background stamp on both the Hexagon Hive die cut panel, and the Deco Label on which the sentiment is mounted.  Here's my card for this week's challenge:

Stamps: Woodgrain, Petite Petals, Chalk Talk
Card: Smoky Slate, So Saffron, Whisper White
DSP: Back to Black Designer Series Paper
Ink: Smoky Slate and So Saffron stampin' pads, Tuxedo Black Memento inkpad, Basic Black craft ink (retired)
Other: Clear stampin' emboss powder, Hexagon Hive thinlits die, Deco Labels framelits, XL Oval punch, Smoky Slate chevron ribbon, Petite Petals punch, sponge daubers, Scallop Edge Border punch, Neutrals and Subtles Candy Dots, stampin' dimensionals

Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team's beautiful samples over at Just Add Ink.  Why not play along with us this week?  We'd love to see how you use these colours together!
