CTD#191: STAMPIN' UP!'S DELICATE DOILIES HAVE BEEN DUSTED OFF!

It has been a while since I inked up my Delicate Doilies stamp set, so I've had a bit of fun with it today.  After seeing the gorgeous colour challenge at Color Throwdown this week, I dreamt up a doily card - so had to sit down and make it this afternoon.  I've kept it simple, letting all the bold-coloured doilies do the talking!

Here is the scrumptious colour combo to be used on a card, or other papercraft project:

... and here's what I came up with, after creating a "one sheet wonder" with colourful stamped doilies:

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card: Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White and Certainly Celery
Ink: Certainly Celery, Pacific Point, Elegant Eggplant and Pool Party stampin' pads
Other: Tempting Turquoise 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Word Window punch, Lots of Tags sizzlits die, Basic Rhinestones, mini glue dots, stampin' dimensionals

FESTIVE FRIDAY #18 CHALLENGE

I have been inspired, by the Festive Friday Challenge (hosted by Nicole Derendorf), to make another Christmas card.  That makes three now - does that constitue being "on a roll"?  I think so!

This week's challenge is to use the following colours on a Christmas card:

When I showed hubby the card I'd made, he said "where's the green?".  Just as well we creative types can think outside the square!

I was inspired by three of the Design Team this week.  Kirsty Brown inspired me to put my Woodgrain stamp to use on a Christmas card (something I hadn't thought to do, but I love it!).  I've also incorporated baker's twine on my card, inspired by Brooke and Tanya.

My card is simple, and I was aiming for a bit of a rustic look.  I coloured direct to my stamp with markers, and stamped on textured Whisper White card, which gives a bit of a linen/canvas look.  Although it doesn't show too well in the photo, the base card is stamped with ornaments from Tree Trimmings.

Stamps: Something for Christmas, Tree Trimmings, Woodgrain
Card: Real Red, Crumb Cake, Whisper White textured
Ink: Early Espresso, Real Red and Crumb Cake markers, Crumb Cake stampin' pad, Versamark inkpad
Other: Early Espresso Baker's twine, Basic Rhinestones, sponge dauber, mini glue dot

JUST ADD INK #117 : A COLOUR CHALLENGE

Delys has set us a very challenging challenge at Just Add Ink this week!!    The idea is to make a card or scrapbook page using the following colours only:

I so wanted to stamp a sentiment in black, but as it turned out I had a lot of fun making a card in monochromatic tones!  Here's what I came up with:

Stamps: My Friend, Tagtastic
Card: So Saffron textured and smooth, Whisper White
Ink: So Saffron and Daffodil Delight stampin' pads, Versamark inkpad
Other: White embossing powder, sponge daubers, So Saffron 3/8" taffeta ribbon, Whisper White 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Itty Bitty shapes punch, Basic Pearls, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, Perfect Pennants die, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, mini glue dots

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's yellow creations!  We hope to inspire you to play along with us this week at Just Add Ink.

cQc #136: STAMPIN' UP!'S PEDAL PRESENTS

I had one more card to design for my upcoming Autumn-Winter Mini classes, and had got as far as deciding on the stamp set (Pedal Presents) and paper (Attic Boutique) I wanted to use.  My original colour choices just weren't working .... and then I saw this week's challenge at ColourQ.  These colours sure were a challenge, but I like the fresh, simple card I ended up with.

Please forgive the photography of my card - I had to take the pic inside, on a dull day.  I have used a Crumb Cake card base, as Whisper White card doesn't cut it for this purpose.  The bike is stamped in Always Artichoke, and I love that it looks less stark than if it'd been stamped in Basic Black.  The little basket is paper-pieced (with spotty Pear Pizzazz paper).

Stamps: Pedal Presents, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Starburst jumbo stampin' around wheel
Card: Crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
DSP: Pear Pizzazz Patterns Designer Series Paper, Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper
Ink: Always Artichoke, Pear Pizzazz, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight markers
Other: Word Window and Modern Label punches, Beautiful Wings embosslits, stamp-a-ma-jig, Basic rhinestones, sponge daubers, Always Artichoke seam binding, paper snips, mini glue dots

STAMPIN' UP!'S APOTHECARY ART IN PINK AND BLUE

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I don't really think of colours in terms as simple as "pink and blue", but just used that description to avoid a super-long post heading!

The main colours in the card I have to share with you today are Blushing Bride, and Pool Party - two of Stampin' Up!'s gorgeous "in colors".  Unfortunately we'll be losing Blushing Bride when our new catalogue comes out later in the year.  It's a lovely pink, that I'm really enjoying using at the moment.

My card came about all because I had a 'negative' cut out of a Framelits die, left in a piece of Blushing Bride card.  Rather than throwing it away (which I tend to do ... in an effort to lessen my hoarding!), I decided to use it as a 'window', to show a piece of the gorgeous new Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper.   Using the Apothecary Art stamp set that goes so beautifully with the Framelits dies, I made what I think is a lovely, girly, card.

Stamps: Apothecary Art, Trendy Trees (sentiment)
Card: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride
DSP: Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper
Ink: Blushing Bride and Soft Suede stampin' pads, Pool Party ink refill
Other: Beautiful Wings embosslits die, Labels Collection Framelits dies, Finial Press embossing folder, aquapainter, Basic Pearls, sponge daubers, Victoria Crochet trim, Blushing Bride pleated satin ribbon, stamp-a-ma-jig, Mat Pack and Paper Piercing tool, stampin' dimensionals, sticky strip

CARD FOR MY DAD

This month's So Shelli Creative Challenge is focussed on Father's Day, which is observed in the US and Canada next month.  Down here in the southern hemisphere, Dads have to wait until September for this celebration of them ..... but I figured I could be super-organised, and get a card ready for my father!

I pulled out my favourite masculine papers, Stampin' Up!'s Well Worn collection, and chose one of the sheets that I hadn't even cut into yet.  I tend to favour the earthy, brown-toned papers, but decided to show some love to the blue piece that has some River Rock and Cajun Craze touches.  I then reached for my "go to" male stamp set of the moment - Up, Up & Away.

Here's what I came up with:

Stamps: Up, Up & Away; Wonderfully Worn; For My Family; Texture stampin' around wheel
Card: River Rock textured and smooth, Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy
DSP: Well Worn Designer Series Paper
Ink: River Rock, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy stampin' pads
Other: Labels Collection Framelits dies, stamp-a-ma-jig, Not Quite Navy taffeta ribbon, Early Espresso 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Square Lattice embossing folder, Regals brads, stampin' dimensionals, mini glue dots, Mat Pack and Paper Piercing tool, sponge daubers

DD#1: STAMPIN' UP!'S GROWING GREEN - SECOND VERSION!

Earlier today, in this post, I shared my excitement about the new Dynamic Duos challenge blog, started up by the lovely and multi-talented challenge site queen, Lesley Croghan.  Well, while I was playing around with ideas for my entry in the challenge, I started off white-embossing my images on Crumb Cake card.  I abandoned that idea, and went with a clean white slate.

Tonight I revisited my 'rejected' piece, and decided to work on it a bit.  The result - it was salvaged, and I've come up with a second card for the Dynamic Duos Challenge #1 :)  I promise this will be my last blog post for the day!

Here are the challenge colours (which can be combined with neutrals, such as white, black, Crumb Cake):

.... and here is the very different card I made:

Stamps: Growing Green, Field Flowers
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink: Versamark inkpad, Pool Party stampin' pad and marker, Crumb Cake stampin' pad, Lucky Limeade marker
Other: White embossing powder, Framed Tulips embossing folder, Neutrals brads, Mat Pack and paper piercing tool, White gel pen, Decorative Label punch, Lucky Limeade baker's twine, sponge dauber

I've been a bit busy in my craft room today, so make sure you visit again tomorrow - I have more to share with you!
