This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Copper Clay, one of Stampin' Up!'s 2023-2025 In Colors. It is featured in the fab Take to the Sky Designer Series Papers, so I've taken this opportunity to share a couple of birthday cards that would be especially great for the males in your life.
CARD #1:
If you don't already know, I love to use Designer Series Papers on my cards. I have used four different patterned papers from the Take to the Sky DSP pack for this card!
I die-cut the biplane from Copper Clay and Night of Navy card, and the propellor from Smoky Slate card. Around the tail of the plane I knotted a strand of Copper Clay Jute, trailing it down to the sentiment banner.
Before sticking down the different patterned papers, I sponged the edges with ink co-ordinating with the paper colours - Copper Clay, Night of Navy, Boho Blue and Smoky Slate.
The sentiment was stamped in Copper Clay ink on Basic White card, and cut out using the sentiment die from the Adventurous Sky bundle. I matted it on a piece of Night of Navy card, and used Paper Snips to cut it down to (roughly!) the banner shape. To secure the Jute Trim, I added an Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gem in copper.
On the plaid Copper Clay paper, I splattered ink from my Dark Copper Clay and Dark Night of Navy Stampin' Blends markers. Holding the marker in one hand, and the open lid in the other, I flicked the brush tip of each marker against the inside of the lid, whilst holding it over the paper.
CARD #2:
Again I have used four designs of paper (with a slight variation!) from the Take to the Sky DSP pack.
Here's a close-up of the great die-cut sentiment in Copper Clay card, cut using a Wanted to Say Die. I placed Adhesive Sheet on the reverse of the piece of card before cutting, so the word became a sticker. Above the sentiment I added copper Adhesive-Backed Sequins.
For this card, I used Copper Clay and Smoky Slate card for the biplane, and Copper Clay Tartan Foil (an Online Exclusive product) for the propellor.
Across the card front, I laid some White Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon (an Online Exclusive, not found in a catalogue). I used my Light Copper Clay Stampin' Blends marker to colour the ribbon, leaving the frayed edges mostly white. Around the ribbon, I tied some Natural Tones Linen Thread in Night of Navy.
The sentiment, from Something Fancy, was stamped on a piece of cloud-patterned paper, using Night of Navy ink. I cut it out using a Happy Little Things Die, then Paper Snips at the right-hand side so the sentiment could sit flush with the Copper Clay layer. The sentiment strip is sponged with Boho Blue ink, and embellished with Ombre Matte Decorative Dots.
