STAMPIN' UP! HAND PENNED CARD IN MINT MACARON

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Mint Macaron, a beautiful soft green in Stampin' Up!'s colour range.

Mint Macaron features in the gorgeous Hand Penned Designer Series Paper.  I've used two designs from the pack on my card tonight.

The vertical-striped panel has been cut along the bottom edge with a Scalloped Contours Die.  I die-cut a floral spray from Snowy White Velvet paper, using a Penned Flowers Die.  After colouring the leaves with the Light Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends marker, I snipped the die cut in two, so some shows above and some below the sentiment strip.

The sentiment, from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set, is stamped in Mint Macaron ink on Basic White card.  I coloured some Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding with my Light Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends marker, to create my bow.  Additional Snowy White Velvet paper flowers, and Subtle Shimmer Sequins, were added to the card front.

You can see the fuzzy texture of the Snowy White Velvet paper better in this photo:

To the inside of my card, I added a Basic White panel, decorated at the top.  I used a strip of the same DSP as on my card front, with a sweet scalloped border cut from Basic White card, using the border die from the Penned Flowers Die collection.

STAMPIN' UP! BRILLIANT RAINBOW CARD IN MERRY MERLOT

The colour we're focussing on for this week's Colour Creations blog hop is Merry Merlot.  I'd describe this colour as a maroon, or burgundy.  Far from my favourite.  When I showed my card to my eldest son, the first thing he said was "I love the colour".  LOL.  I think it's one of those polarising colours, don't you?

I have designed my card around some sweet new dies that are coming out in Stampin' Up!'s Mini Catalogue on 4th January.  The Brilliant Rainbow Dies are going to be featuring on lots of my cards, I think!  Tonight's card features a rainbow in Merry Merlot and gold.

I started off with a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, attaching Adhesive Sheet to the back.  Using a Blending Brush, I coloured the paper with Merry Merlot ink, from my inkpad, creating an ombre pattern - dark at the top, graduating to light at the bottom. Using a Water Painter, I flicked water droplets over the coloured paper.  When dry, I cut a few rainbows with one of the Brilliant Rainbow Dies, giving me the option to "mix and match" the coloured arcs.  I also used a piece of Gold Metallic Paper (also with Adhesive Sheet on the back, to make it easy to place and apply the thin die-cut rainbow pieces) with the rainbow die, adding gold arcs between the Merry Merlot ones.

Here's the end result, my rainbow adhered to a Stitched So Sweetly die-cut rectangle that I embossed with a Dotty Hearts embossing folder.  The white scalloped rectangle was mounted on a thin layer of Gold Metallic Paper, and a panel of Merry Merlot card that I embossed with the second Dotty Hearts embossing folder.

Here's a close-up of the larger embossed panel, that is attached to the Merry Merlot card base.  I added a bow made from Fine Art Ribbon, and dotted some Metallic Pearls around my card.

The sentiment, from the Many Happenings stamp set, was stamped in Versamark ink on Basic White card, heat-embossed in gold, and cut out using the Messages Die.  The tiny heart, stamped in Merry Merlot ink on Basic White card, is also from Many Happenings, and cut using the Messages Die.  What a serendipitous find, that this heart fits nicely over the embossed background heart. :)

If you come across any broken links, or would like to see a comprehensive list of everyone sharing Merry Merlot creations, head over to Catherine Proctor's blog.  Cathy co-ordinates our blog hops every week.

Listed below are the current Stampin' Up! products I used to make my card.  I can't yet link to the Brilliant Rainbow Dies in my online store, as they are not available to purchase until 4th January (unless you sign up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator before then, in which case you can get your hands on them right now!).
