STAMPIN' UP! COMING HOME PLAID CHRISTMAS CARD

My love affair with the Coming Home bundle, from Stampin' Up!'s August - December Mini Catalogue, continues!  On today's card, I've teamed the gorgeous single wide house image with Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper.  I purposely didn't "ground" the house (it looks a bit like it's floating), as I wanted a naive, playful look to the design.

Are you wondering what the wide green ribbon is, that I've used at the top?  It's actually Mint Macaron ribbon, from the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon combo.  I coloured it using my Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends marker.  I made this card a while ago, and don't rightly remember if it was the Light or Dark marker, but I think it was the Dark.  I just wanted to show that you can change the colour of ribbon, to match your projects, if you want a particular width or type of ribbon in a colour that's not available.

The sentiment on my card is from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set, and it's on a piece of Whisper White card cut with a Tasteful Labels die.

STAMPIN' UP! MASCULINE THANK YOU CARD FOR PP506

I'm joining in the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at The Paper Players this week.

I've chosen the diagonal elements of Stitching - Embossing - Wood (although now that I look at my finished card, I see that I've also incorporated Die Cut and Thank you ... that wasn't intentional!).

I knew I wanted to make a masculine card, with a woodgrain look.  I have several stamps, papers and embossing folders that work for this theme, and I did end up throwing a few of them at this card!

I cut a panel of dark woodgrain-patterned paper from the In Good Taste pack, and dry-embossed it with my Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder.  After sponging the edges of the paper with Early Espresso ink, I adhered it to a piece of Very Vanilla card.

On the larger of the two Crumb Cake stitched rectangles, I stamped a couple of images from the Pallet Thoughts stamp set.  First I stamped the wooden texture in Crumb Cake ink, then added "screw heads" in Early Espresso ink.  In addition to dry-embossing some texture on my card, I heat-embossed the sentiment.  I inked up the sentiment stamp in Versamark ink, then straight onto my Early Espresso inkpad, before stamping it onto the smaller Crumb Cake stitched rectangle.  I used clear embossing powder to bring out the ink colour more.

From another sheet of woodgrain paper (also from the In Good Taste pack), I die cut a few "thanks", using the Well Written dies.  I like that they're a bit subtle when you look at the card face-on.  The photo below shows the extra detail they add:

Because my card base is dark, I adhered a Very Vanilla panel inside, to allow clear space for writing.  I got a bit carried away with the screw head stamp on the little strip of woodgrain-stamped card inside ... it's just a fun little detail, that tickles my fancy!

STAMPIN' UP! HAND-DRAWN BLOOMS IN BRIGHT PINKS

It's the first day of Spring today, for us in the southern hemisphere.  This is my favourite season ... and with long lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the increased birdsong, beautiful blooms, and longer, warmer, days will be more welcome than ever before.

In the spirit of trying to feel a bit more cheery, I've made a bright card using the Hand-Drawn Blooms bundle.  This card came about after I had repeatedly stamped, on a piece of Whisper White card, the large bouquet image in Melon Mambo ink.  I didn't particularly like the look of it, and was tempted to discard it ... until I had the idea to use a blending brush, to add Melon Mambo ink over the top of the stamped images.  It totally transformed the piece, and that became my custom background.

On another piece of Whisper White card, I stamped the full bouquet in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured the image using my Stampin' Blends markers.  I embossed the panel with the Subtle 3D embossing folder (running it through twice, crossways the second time, to give a linen look) then cropped it down with a Stitched So Sweetly die.  The sentiment (from Posted For You) was stamped on a strip of Whisper White card, which I then shaped with the Lovely Labels punch.  It, too, has been embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.
