STAMPIN' UP! GRASSY GROVE BIRTHDAY CARD IN BASIC GRAY

The colour we're focussing on, for this week's Colour Creations blog hop, is Basic Gray.  This is Stampin' Up!'s darkest grey, and perfect for my favourite type of card - masculine.  I have paired Basic Gray with Soft Succulent, and incorporated lots of layers and texture.

The torn notepad-paper piece, along with the Soft Succulent stars, is from the He's The Man Designer Series Paper pack.  There are two sheets of great die-cuts in the pack.

Using Basic Gray ink, and my Stamparatus, I stamped the sentiment (from Biggest Wish) directly onto the note paper die cut.  I also stamped some stitched detail, courtesy of the Stitchery stamp set.  After sponging the edges of the paper with Basic Gray ink, I adhered the focal piece to a panel of Basic Gray DSP (from the Neutrals 6"x6" collection).  This paper was also sponged around the edges.

For the background, I used a woodgrain-patterned paper, from the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper pack.  I sponged the edges in Basic Gray ink, adhered it to a Soft Succulent card mat, and layered it on a Basic Gray card panel that I'd embossed with the Timber 3D embossing folder.

I embellished my card with some diamond/argyle pieces, cut from Basic Gray card using All That Dies.  Classic Matte Dots added a finishing touch.

Across the front of the card, I adhered a piece of Soft Succulent card on which I'd stamped some landscape from the Grassy Grove stamp set (using Basic Gray ink).  Again I used the Stitchery stamp ... it looks a little like a path, don't you think?  I stamped the deer in Basic Gray ink on Basic Gray card, and used Grove Dies to cut out both the deer and the top of the Soft Succulent stamped panel.

The diamond shapes at the bottom of the card front were cut with Paper Snips from a second die-cut like the one at the top.

Well Christine, Soft Succulent is not a colour I would have considered pairing with Basic Grey but your card is amazing. I love how you have combined so many elements from different stamps and dies, great card

  4. hehehe, I actually thought that the stitchery image was animal footprints across the front of your card, which fit so well with the deer theme! Another fabulous masculine card, Christine.

  5. Oh I love your male cards Christine and I am looking at all the elements, the background, the torn paper, die cuts then I was looking at the stitching and reading what you said and thinking it looked like the footprints of the deer and I come down here and Tina had thought the same thing LOL! Such a great card Christine, love it!

Lovely Card Christine, I wouldn't have put Soft Succulent with Basic Gray but it goes so well.
