Tonight's Colour Creations blog hop is the final one in our current run of colours in alphabetical order; we've worked our way through 50 of them!
This week we are showcasing Soft Suede, a mid-brown in Stampin' Up!'s Neutrals collection. I have defaulted to my comfort zone of a masculine card.
To create the background for my card design, I started with a piece of Basic White card. Using a Blending Brush, I added Soft Suede ink to the entire surface area. I wanted a bit of a rustic look, so didn't carefully blend the ink - I just wanted to have a lighter Soft Suede base to work with, than if I'd used a piece of Soft Suede card. After blending ink all over the Basic White card, I laid a Plenty of Patterns Decorative Mask over the top, and added another layer of Soft Suede ink using a Blending Brush. I added some stamped detail with one of the small stamps from Hello Beautiful.
Using the Stitched Stars Dies, I cut some stars from Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party card. After applying Soft Suede ink directly to the inside cover of the Hive 3D embossing folder, I placed the die-cut stars inside the folder, closed it, and ran it through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine. This allowed the Soft Suede ink to settle into the embossed areas. I sponged Soft Suede ink around the edges of the stars, and adhered them to the background panel.
Here you can better see the background stencilling and stamping, and the texture on the stars:
