STAMPIN' UP! FAMILY PARTY MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

Today is my eldest son's birthday (and I am having difficulty comprehending that my first brown-eyed baby is 24, already).  We had a family dinner, to celebrate, last night.  Jack gets to do something special for his birthday tonight - he is going, with his fiancee Tanikka, to have a tasting of meals on offer at their wedding reception venue.  They'll get to decide the menu for their wedding, which is less than four months away.  Exciting times!

Here is the card I made for Jack:

I cut four varying widths of paper from the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper pack.  After adhering them on an angle to a piece of Whisper White card, I used a Stitched Rectangle die to cut the panel.  This piece was then attached to a piece of Pretty Peacock card.  I wrapped some Braided Linen trim around the top, then added feather embellishments.  The wooden feathers, from Tags & Feathers elements, were coloured using Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends.  I then sanded them, to give them a rustic look.  The layered design part of the card is raised up from the card base, using Stampin' Dimensionals.

All of the Stampin' Up! products used to make this card are available to purchase from my online store.  If you would like to buy them for yourself, clicking on any of the thumbnail images below will take you direct to my store.  I would love for you to shop with me, if you live in Australia, and don't already have your own Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

STAMPIN' UP! SEASIDE NOTIONS MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

I have recently returned from a month-long holiday, in the US, and I am struggling to adjust to my "normal" life!  My head is so full of images and memories of my time away, that I haven't even felt like crafting.

My first session spent back in my craft room, was to make a birthday card for a young man who really appreciates the cards I make him every year.  My creation was inspired by Emma Goddard, a UK Stampin' Up! demonstrator, who made this great card. I wouldn't have thought to use Pretty Peacock with Seaside Notions (I tend towards lighter or brighter blues).  I teamed Pretty Peacock with Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Whisper White, to make this card:

To create the centre panel, I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Using Crumb Cake ink, and Pretty Peacock ink, I repeatedly stamped a squiggly line image from Artisan Textures, from the bottom of the piece of card, upwards (leaving the top of the card uncoloured). I then brayered Crumb Cake ink over the bottom third of the card, and Pretty Peacock ink to the higher parts of the card, keeping the colour more intense in what would be the deeper part of the sea.  After this, I stamped the dotty image from Seaside Notions, along the sandy area, and some of the sea.

The seahorse and shells were stamped onto Whisper White card, and coloured using co-ordinating Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers).  A little bit of  Linen Thread, knotted at both ends, is a finishing touch underneath the sentiment panel.
