This week's Colour Creations blog hop is showcasing Sweet Sorbet, a new red in Stampin' Up!'s colour range. It is a bright pinkish-red that is one of the five In Colors for 2022-2024.
I've gone back to my early cardmaking days, revisiting an old favourite colour combination. I used to use red, kraft and vanilla together a lot. Sweet Sorbet, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla are the dominant colours/tones on my card, created with the beautiful Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper.
I have used an edge piece of the rose-patterned paper, and fussy cut around the design. I coloured the flowers in Light and Dark Sweet Sorbet Stampin' Blends, Dark Sweet Sorbet and Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends, and Light Natural Tones Stampin' Blends. The leaves were coloured using Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends, and I have used the Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends marker to edge the cut piece, and colour in the spaces around the flowers and leaves.
My card base is Crumb Cake, with a thin Sweet Sorbet mat around a Very Vanilla card layer that I embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder (and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink). I used a Deckled Rectangle Die to cut a piece of "note paper", and edged the left hand side with a Blossoming Happiness Die, that creates a spiral note pad look.
The sentiment, from Blessings of Home, was stamped in Sweet Sorbet ink on a scrap of the "note paper". I cut it out using a smaller Deckled Rectangle Die, and further cropped the length by running it back through the Stampin' Cute & Emboss machine once I'd repositioned the die to cut a bit off the Deckled Rectangle. I sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake ink.
In this corner, you can see the Timeworn Type embossed background, and a peek of the note pad-look border down the left hand side of the lined paper piece.
I cut a length of Natural Finish Ribbon in half, lengthways (it's a little too wide for my liking), to create a bow. A single outline leaf, cut from Crumb Cake card using a Cottage Flowers Die, and some Sweet Sorbet Matte Decorative Dots, provided the finishing touches to my card.
