STAMPIN' UP! BIRTHDAY BLOOMS IN DAPPER DENIM

I am seriously in love with the new products coming out in Stampin' Up!'s catalogue on 1st June!!  The card I am sharing with you today came to life primarily because of my love of Dapper Denim, one of the new In Colors joining Stampin' Up!'s range.

I white-embossed the gorgeous flower from Birthday Blooms onto Watercolor Paper.  Using Dapper Denim and Smoky Slate inks, I watercoloured the image, then cut it out using the oh-so-cool new Layering Squares Framelits dies. 

How cute is that ruched ribbon?  I already have a whole roll of every colour (it's in the five new In Colors), and just know I will be using it a lot.

The sentiment was created using the new Thoughtful Banners stamp set (which consists of 53 fabulous sentiments!) and co-ordinating Duet Banner punch.  You will NEED these products, I'm telling you!

STAMPIN' UP! REMARKABLE YOU, FOR MOTHERS' DAY

In deciding my design for the Mothers' Day cards I made this year, I was inspired by a couple of my favourite card makers.  Sandi MacIver often uses pinks and yellows on her flowers (and her watercolouring is to die for!); and Paula Dobson reminded me with this spectacular card, that I own the Remarkable You stamp set.

Here is the card that I made for my Mum ... and was so happy with, I also made for my mother-in-law.  I had a lot of fun getting inky, and was very pleased to discover that not even Melon Mambo ink will stain my lovely new Organic White Caesarstone benchtops!  Phew.

I realised, "after the fact", that I had stamped my flowers and leaves with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I would not recommend doing this, if you're planning to watercolour, folks!  The ink does bleed (well, because it's not designed to be waterfast).  I meant to stamp in Basic Black Archival ink, but will pretend for the purpose of this post that I wanted a more "arty", unstructured look!

Happy Mothers' Day, to all who celebrate this day.  My boys have absolved me of the usual dishes and dog duties that fall to Mum, and they're taking me out for dinner shortly.  We spent the afternoon visiting my and my husband's Mums, so a lovely family day all round.

JAI #310: STAMPIN' UP! BIRTHDAY BLOSSOMS, AND A SKETCH CHALLENGE

Happy Friday, all!  Over at Just Add Ink today, we have a sketch challenge for you (courtesy of Tina).



I didn't want to make a circular card, so I used the sketch to design the focal panel of my card.  I've used the gorgeous Birthday Blossoms stamp set, and Pretty Petals Designer Series paper, from Stampin' Up!

I fussy cut a little spray of Pacific Point flowers from the DSP sheet, and added it to the sentiment banner.  After watercolouring and punching out the Calypso Floral flowers, I decorated the three flower centres with epoxy stickers, for a bit of shine:

I don't think I've ever been disappointed with a card made using these stamps and papers; they're just so pretty.  I hope you love this card, too!
