STAMPIN' UP! HEALING HUGS BIRTHDAY CARD

After making my card for last night's Colour Creations Showcase, featuring Daffodil Delight, I had some "bits" left over on my craft table.  I came up with another card, using the same colour combination:

I have used a piece of Whisper White card, embossed with the Parisian Flourish 3D embossing folder, as the background.  A wide strip of Smoky Slate card has been flicked with ink from my Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends marker, before I adhered a trimmed strip of a Many Medallions die cut, in Basic Black card.

The sentiment (from Seaside Notions) is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, on Daffodil Delight card.  I used my Stamparatus to stamp it four times, to get an impression that was black enough for my liking!  The tiny Basic Gray butterflies either side of the sentiment were cut with Butterfly Beauty dies and have tiny rhinestones added.

 Here's a closer look at the "flicked ink" (an easy way to add a bit of detail to plain card) and beautiful medallion die cut.  As on last night's card, I coloured the roses by applying Daffodil Delight ink using a sponge dauber.  The leaves, however, were inked directly with my Basic Gray inkpad.

AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 14: DAFFODIL DELIGHT

This week it's Daffodil Delight's time to shine, in the weekly Colour Creations Showcase that some Stampin' Up! friends and I participate in.  We are working our way through Stampin' Up!'s colours, alphabetically, and having a lot of fun along the way!  Cathy Proctor co-ordinates our shares, and has a comprehensive list on her blog of all the participants.  We would love it if you hopped around all our blogs, and left some comment love if you're inspired by what we have made.

This is the colour combination I've chosen to use.  I like the pop of colour that yellow adds to the elegant, subdued, palette of grey, black and white.

Isn't the Daffodil Delight polka dot paper so happy?  We need a bit of brightness in our lives at the moment!

I used a sponge dauber to apply Daffodil Delight ink to the beautiful rose stamp from Healing Hugs.  Sometimes ink pads can be a bit too juicy to pick up the delicate details on stamps, so this is another way of achieving nice depth of colour, whilst showcasing the photorealistic quality of the image.  I stamped the leaves in Basic Gray, and added a stray stamped and coloured leaf that was lying on my desk, so I didn't have an even number of leaves under the rose.

It's a bit hard to tell the difference between the greys I've used on my card.  The sentiment was stamped in Basic Gray ink.  The scalloped circle behind the Stitched Shape circle is Smoky Slate card, with the edges sponged in Smoky Slate ink.

Here's a closer view of some of the focal details.  I used the same background stamp as on the Daffodil Delight sentiment mat, but rotated the circle behind the rose so the "cross" pattern had a different orientation (to make them more like kisses):

I had some "bits" left over on my craft table, after making this card, so will have another creation to share with you tomorrow.
