JAI #343: STAMPIN' UP! BALLOON POP-UP MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

After a lovely Christmas/New Year break, we are back with an exciting array of challenges lined up for the year, at Just Add Ink.

To kick off our challenge schedule for 2017, we have a blog hop highlighting projects by the Just Add Ink Design Team ... we've all made a pop-up or interactive project.

You may have come to my blog from the very talented Karren's blog, but if not, you can see her creation as you make your way around the 'loop'.

I have made a masculine card, as it's my favourite kind - plus, I'm in love with the new Urban Underground suite of products in Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Catalogue.

Here's the front of my card:

When you first open it, this is what you see:

.... and this is the full pop-up component in the middle, courtesy of the fabulous new Balloon Pop-Up thinlits dies:

Listed below are all the Stampin' Up! products I used to make this card ... if you would like to buy them for yourself, just click on one of the thumbnail images, to be taken to my online store (Australian residents only).

Next up is Tina ... click on the "next" graphic below, to see what she has made.

We hope you have a lot of fun "hopping" around the creations we've made.  If you get lost, or hit a broken link, anywhere along the way, just go back to the Just Add Ink home page, where you'll find a complete list of all the participants in the blog hop.

STAMPIN' UP! DRAGONFLY DREAMS FRIENDSHIP CARD

I'm back with a second card, using my "1990s colours", showcasing the gorgeous Dragonfly Dreams bundle from Stampin' Up!  I have used many of the same elements as on yesterday's card, but with a few added details.  I built up the dragonfly in the same way, cutting the wings from Elegant Eggplant Designer Series Paper, one layer of the dragonfly from a watercoloured scrap, and the body of the dragonfly (I just snipped off the wings) from Bermuda Bay cardstock.

On this card, I embossed the Elegant Eggplant panel, using the sweet new Falling Petals embossing folder.  I added a die-cut and stamped sentiment combination, some enamel hearts, and a touch of Clear Wink of Stella to the dragonfly.

You might be able to see the shimmery dragonfly better in this pic:

Thanks for visiting my blog today!  I'll be back to "usual transmission" of Just Add Ink challenges, from this Friday, so would love for you to come back then to see my first Design Team submission for the year.

STAMPIN' UP! DRAGONFLY DREAMS BIRTHDAY CARD

While playing with my new Dragonfly Dreams bundle, of stamps and thinlits dies, I decided to have a "throwback" to a colour scheme I liked to use when I started card-making almost 20 years ago - purple and teal.  I found it a bit amusing that my 21-year-old son, and his 20-year-old girlfriend, both really liked this colour combination, out of all the cards I made.

I had a couple of scraps of watercolour paper, that had been coloured (direct to paper) with inkpads, and spritzed with water.  I die-cut the intricate dragonfly from this watercoloured paper, then die-cut another dragonfly from Elegant Eggplant cardstock, snipping off the wings, so just the darker body was layered on top.  The bottom layer of the butterfly is the wings die-cut from Brights Designer Series Paper (in this case, Bermuda Bay).

I employed a couple of my favourite techniques from my early card-making days on this card ... stamping the dragonfly in Elegant Eggplant ink, all over the Elegant Eggplant card panel, and tearing the bottom of the Bermuda Bay and Elegant Eggplant panels.

I layered the dragonfly on a die-cut square of Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper; I like the sheen of the subtle embossed detail.

Listed below are all the Stampin' Up! products used to make this card.  If you would like to purchase them for yourself, just click on one of the thumbnail images to be taken direct to my online store.

I'd love it if you came back to visit tomorrow.  I will be sharing another Dragonfly Dreams card, using this same colour combination.
