JAI #313: STAMPIN' UP! MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

I've gone all out for this week's Just Add Ink challenge!  Tina has challenged us to "Just Add B" to a papercraft project.  Well, after some major brainstorming of "B" elements, I narrowed it down to six to cram onto one card!  (I guess you might even say seven, if counting the fact that it's a birthday card.)

I have made a blue and black birthday card for my brother, featuring a balloon stamped with the Baby Wipe technique - and punched the sentiment using the new Duet Banner punch!  There were a few other things I could have added, but decided that would be just showing off.

The placement of the sentiment is a bit unusual for me, but a lovely big black ink smudge dictated that it was to go in the top right corner.  (I'd gone too far with the making of the card, to start it all again!)  I quite like it; might use this layout again.

Here's my "chock full of B" card:

Don't you think the balloon looks a bit "galactic"?  I decided it needed a bit of shimmer and sparkle, so painted over it with my Clear Wink of Stella pen.

Listed below are all the current Stampin' Up! products used to make this card.  The sentiment was created using the yet-to-be-released Confetti Celebration and Thoughtful Banners stamp sets, and Duet Banner punch, so I can't link to those in my online store (until 1st June - not long now).  Similarly, Dapper Denim ink (refill and Stampin' Pad), cardstock and ruched ribbon were used, but don't show below.

Here are the colours I used on this card:

Make sure you check out all the fun the Design Team had with this week's Just Add Ink challenge.  We'd love to see what "B" you add to your card or scrapbook page, so don't forget to link up your creation at the Just Add Ink site.

JAI #312: STAMPIN' UP! LOVE & AFFECTION

We have a colour challenge at Just Add Ink this week, thanks to Patrice.  I found this combo very challenging, with the mix of subtle and very bright colours:

I have for you today a sneak peek of a few new products, that Stampin' Up! will be releasing on 1st June.  (One of the fabulous things about being a demonstrator is that I am able to get my hands on new product before it is released.)

Using Jet Black Staz-On ink, I stamped the large outline flower, from the new Love & Affection stamp set, a few times on Watercolor Paper.  I used Marina Mist and Pacific Point inks to watercolour the flowers.  The leaves were stamped in Staz-On, then watercoloured with Mint Macaron ink.  I snuck in a bit of Bermuda Bay, in the form of tiny stamped flowers.

Can you see the floral boughs embossed above and below my flowery panel?  The new Floral Affection embossing folders will be out on 1st June as well.

The sentiment, which I rather love, is from Gift of Love, one of the new beautiful Hostess sets.

I painted the flower petals with Clear Wink of Stella, and attached White Perfect Accents to the flower centres.

Because most of the products used to make this card aren't yet released, I won't list the 'ingredients' below.  If you have any questions about the card, feel free to email me.

Make sure you check out how the rest of the Just Add Ink team have used these blues and greens; I'm in awe!

STAMPIN' UP! GRATEFUL BUNCH CARD, WITH SWIRLY SCRIBBLES

Stampin' Up! is bringing out, on 1st June, some super-cute scribbly dies, and a matching stamp set ... they're "must haves" in my book!  I had a play with the dies for a wedding anniversary card for my parents.  It's not their golden wedding anniversary , but I just like the elegance of gold, black and white together.

I gold-embossed the butterflies on Whisper White card, then fussy-cut them.  The top panel of the card is embossed with butterflies, to continue the theme.

Listed below are the current Stampin' Up! products used to make this card.  The Swirly Scribbles dies (and Swirly Bird stamp set) aren't available to buy until 1st June, but I thought you'd like a sneak peek.

JAI #311: STAMPIN' UP! PETITE PETALS IN SWEET SUGARPLUM

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink, courtesy of Nikki, is to Just Add ... Masking.

I have used this technique in its simplest form.  I die-cut a Deco Label (these framelits retire at the end of the month .. boo hoo!), and used temporary adhesive to secure a strip of cardstock across the middle.  With the mask in place, I stamped various flowers from my neglected Petite Petals stamp set, using Sweet Sugarplum (one of the beautiful new In Colors, being released 1st June), Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black inks.  I removed the strip of card, and stamped the sentiment in the masked-off area.

The spotty background paper is from the super-cute Playful Palette Designer Series Paper stack, being released on 1st June.  I stamped and punched out a few Sweet Sugarplum flowers, adhered them to the outer edge of the die-cut panel, and painted the petals with clear Wink of Stella (which you should be able to see in the pic at the top of my post).

I can't link to the not-yet-released products in my online store yet (add them to your wishlist for 1st June!), but I have listed below the current Stampin' Up! products I used.

Make sure you check out the gorgeous creations of the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team.
