JAI #288: STAMPIN' UP! GO WILD MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

Narelle has come up with an awesome sketch for us at Just Add Ink this week. 

I have used the sketch as a basis for my son's birthday card.  Jack turns 20 tomorrow, and, in true "Mother of the Year" style, I will be away for two days, soaking up the fun at a Stampin' Up! event in Melbourne.  Thankfully, I have very understanding sons!

 

I've kept the card simple, since a "no fuss" approach is necessary for this young man.  I'm loving the Go Wild DSP stack for masculine cards.  The paper dictated my colour scheme, of Tip Top Taupe, Basic Black, and Whisper White.

STAMPIN' UP! BE THE STAR MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD

I'm not getting to be very creative at the moment ... we're in the delightful stage of preparing to move house.  Boy, am I looking forward to being in the new house, and settled; this time is rather stressful!  For now, I've not packed up my most-used craft items, so I can still make the odd card when time and motivation allow.

Today I would like to share with you a card I made for a special young man, who recently turned 20.  I got so much pleasure from going back to the basics, of mainly using stamps and ink.  I got a bit "busy" with the stamping, but am happy with the colour combination I used - Chocolate Chip, Island Indigo, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake, with white.  The star embellishment was hand-cut; I inked the stamp with Island Indigo and Chocolate Chip markers, then stamped on Crumb Cake card.  The knotted thread is a few strands separated from some 1 1/4" wide burlap ribbon.

STAMPIN' UP! VINTAGE LEAVES FOR JAI #287

This week at Just Add Ink, Jodene has come up with some gorgeous inspiration pics for us.

 

My eye was instantly drawn to the gorgeous rich pink and purple leaves ... so, I cleared my mind of all the other elements in these pics, and came up with a card for a pink-loving friend (who's not averse to a little bling):

 

 

 

The card base is Rose Red, and I have repeatedly stamped leaves in Rose Red ink on Melon Mambo card.  The sparkly leaf was stamped in Wisteria Wonder, and watercoloured with Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant inks.  Once the purples were dry, I stamped over the top of the leaf again, with Versamark ink, then applied Heat & Stick Powder.  I heated it, to create a tacky base for Dazzling Diamonds glitter, then quickly heat-set that.  Here's a close-up of the gorgeous sparkly leaf:
