STAMPIN' UP! FLOATING & FLUTTERING SYMPATHY CARD

It is only a couple of days now until Stampin' Up!'s January - June Mini Catalogue ends.  One of the bundles I will be sad to see retire is the Floating & Fluttering stamps and dies.  I've used these products to make a sympathy card, that I'm sharing with you today.

I started off by stamping the butterflies and foliage (all on one stamp) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, on Basic White card.  After die-cutting them, I coloured the images with Blackberry Bliss and Old Olive Stampin' Blends markers.  Some sparkly Wink of Stella was then painted over the top of the butterflies.

The background Basic White panel has been embossed with a Meadow Moments embossing folder.  It's a narrow folder, so I ran it through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine twice - once to emboss the top of the landscape panel, and again to emboss the bottom edge.

Using the "cloud" edge die, from Basic Borders Dies, I cut the top and bottom edge of a strip of Basic White card.  This formed my sentiment panel, and a landing spot for the butterflies.  Some Elegant Faceted Gems, a strip of Old Olive Designer Series Paper, and a Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon bow, finish off my card.

In this close-up, you can see how shimmery the butterflies look:

The embossing and die-cut edge details show up better in this shot:

AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 36: POPPY PARADE

Tonight's Colour Creations Showcase, hosted by Cathy Proctor, is focussing on Poppy Parade.  This is an orangey-red that I don't tend to use a lot ... but now that I've had a play with it, I am loving it!  That is one of the beauties of taking part in the weekly Colour Creations Showcases, as we work our way through all of Stampin' Up!'s colours; we stretch our creativity!  Cathy has a comprehensive list on her blog of all the participants in this week's share.  Please go to Cathy's blog, to see what she has made with this lovely colour, and to find the links to everyone else's blog posts.

The Floating & Fluttering Bundle is the star of the show on my card.  I have teamed Poppy Parade with gold, Basic Black and Shimmery White.

I stamped, in Versamark ink on Shimmery White card, two of the butterfly and leaf clusters, gold-embossed  and die cut them (it's very handy that there are two identical dies in the set, for this purpose).  After colouring the butterflies with Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends markers, I snipped apart three of the butterflies, and adhered them to the second die cut piece, using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I had a lot of fun creating the background for this card.  I started off by stamping the dotty stamp, from Floating & Fluttering, in Poppy Parade ink around the border of the Poppy Parade panel.  After embossing the piece of card with the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder, I added more detail with a Stitched With Whimsy die.  At this stage, I realised the stamped border was barely visible, so I stamped around the edges again in Versamark ink.  I added Heat & Stick Powder to the stamped images, heated it with my Heat Tool just until it melted, then pressed the card into Gilded Leafing flakes.

Here's some of the detail close up:

The Gold Foil strip across the card has been embossed with a Meadow Moments embossing folder, and the gold butterfly was created with one of the dies from the Floating & Fluttering bundle, that cuts and embosses at the same time (love that!).

The frame for the sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, on Shimmery White card.  I stamped the sentiment, from the super-versatile Happy Thoughts stamp set, in Poppy Parade ink towards the bottom of the frame, before die-cutting it, and tucking it under the embossed Gold Foil strip.  I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment four times over, as one impression of the ink was very pale, and quite orange.  I'm happy with the intensity achieved with four impressions. :)
