This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Copper Clay, one of the five new In Colors in Stampin' Up!'s range, for 2023-2025. I'm all about these rich, earthy tones - great for masculine cards!
I have teamed Copper Clay with Crumb Cake and Pretty Peacock. Copper Clay's a great colour to use for red deer.
I started off with a Crumb Cake card panel, on which I stamped the background trees and hills in Crumb Cake ink. Using a Basics 3D Embossing Folder, I added some cross-hatch texture. I then sponged around the edges of this piece, and adhered it to a slightly larger piece of Pretty Peacock card.
Another, smaller, piece of Crumb Cake card was cut with the Grove Die that creates a frame. I used my Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends marker to colour the tree trunks, and Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends to colour the foliage. Using the direct-to-rubber technique, I coloured the tree stamp with Copper Clay and Pretty Peacock Stampin' Write markers (these are water-based, and a great alternative to inkpads for inking up stamps, especially if you want two or more colours applied to the stamp). The Stamparatus came in handy to stamp this image on a scrap of Crumb Cake card. After I'd stamped it, I was able to apply more colour to the stamp, with the markers, and over-stamp to get good colour coverage. The trees were cut out with a Grove Die, and stuck down over the frame (tucking the trunks under some grassy bits). Here's a closer look at that detail:

On another scrap of Crumb Cake card, I stamped the sentiment from Biggest Wish, in Crumb Cake and Copper Clay inks. I used a Deckled Rectangles Die to cut it out, and customised the size of this label a bit by running it back through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, after re-positioning the die to crop it down in size. It was sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake ink.
I added some Copper Clay Dots to the sentiment panel, and used my Dark Copper Clay Stampin' Blends marker to add eyes to the doe and fawn. I lightly sponged around the edges of the die-cut deer with Copper Clay ink.
Inside the card, I added a panel of Crumb Cake card, sponged with Crumb Cake ink. I stamped this piece with the same background stamp used on the front, and added a die-cut deer that had been stamped on Crumb Cake card in Copper Clay ink:
