STAMPIN' UP! HEXAGON HIVE MASCULINE CARD

Happy Monday, everyone!  (Truthfully, I'm not feeling that cheery - it was hard to get out of bed this morning!)

My nephew recently turned 17.  I'd had a dream about the card I made for him, so went to work to make it a reality.  I think it has turned out a little 'dark', but Ethan (my 13-yr-old) said dark is good, because it's "more masculine".  Bless him!

I used the fab-o Hexagon Hive thinlits die with Soho Subway Designer Series Paper.  I overlaid that on some Early Espresso card that had been stamped with a couple of Gorgeous Grunge stamps.  After adding washi tape to the bottom strip of Summer Starfruit card, I decided it looked a bit like a road sign .... but left it 'as is' anyway!  Here's my creation:

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Morning Post Numbers, Sketched Birthday, Simply Stars
Card: Basic Gray, Early Espresso, Summer Starfruit, Naturals Ivory
DSP: Soho Subway Designer Series Paper, Summer Starfruit Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Gray, Early Espresso and Summber Starfruit stampin' pads
Other: Hexagon Hive thinlits die, Banners Framelits ,Bitty Banners Framelits, Finishing Touches edgelits, Epic Day This & That washi tape, paper snips, sponge dauber, Hung Up cute clip, Basic Gray stitched grosgrain ribbon

STAMPIN' UP! SIMPLY STARS FOR A 5-YEAR-OLD!

Our little neighbour turned 5 last week, and I made him a card using a striking colour combination that I'd seen in a recent Pals Paper Arts challenge.  Unfortunately I wasn't organised enough to make the challenge cut-off, but here are the colours that were suggested for a papercraft project:

How great do these colours look together, on a boy's card?

Stamps: Simply Stars, Morning Post Numbers, Sketched Birthday
Card: Pumpkin Pie, Gumball Green, Whisper White and Basic Black
DSP: Pumpkin Pie Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Pumpkin Pie and Gumball Green stampin' pads and Jet Black Staz-On inkpad
Other: Bitty Banner framelits, Neutrals button, Gumball Green stitched satin ribbon, 1 1/4" Circle punch, Circles framelits, Starburst framelits, sponge dauber, glue dots, Brights and Neutrals candy dots

STAMPIN' UP! ON FILM FRAMELITS

I had a bit of fun this week making a birthday card for my brother-in-law.  There's no danger of him visiting my blog, so I can share it with you while it's on its way to him in the mail.

The new On Film Framelits dies from Stampin' Up! are just so cute.  I've already shared a card or two using the smaller polaroid frame.  This card showcases the larger of the two frames in the set, along with the great little camera die - how cool does it look in the silver foil paper?!  The framelit cuts and embosses the camera shape at the same time.  Although it's not super-clear in my photo, I die-cut two cameras in Early Espresso, and placed them along the bottom of the card, sandwiching a Marina Mist camera.

Stamps: Simply Stars, Gorgeous Grunge, Perfect Pennants, Sketched Birthday, Happy Day
Card: Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Silver Foil paper
Ink: Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Early Espresso stampin' pads
Other: On Film framelits, Bitty Banners framelits, Subtles and Neutrals candy dots, Candy Dot base, sponge daubers, Natural Chevron ribbon, glue dots

It will be available from 28th January, along with a co-ordinating punch.  These items are free with qualifying orders (one freebie per $90.00 spent on catalogue product) - how cool is that?!

JAI #193 : STAMPIN' UP!'S CHRISTMAS STAR

Kim has come up with an inspiration pic for us at Just Add Ink this week.

I was struck by the vibrant blue of the single star, so pulled out my Pacific Point inkpad, and new Christmas Star stamp, and went to work on a glittery, glimmery Christmas card.  The single Christmas Star stamp features quite heavily in the Design Team's samples this week ... but we've used it differently, and hopefully given you some ideas for using your own, if you have it.  If you don't have it, you NEED it - it's fabulous!

After stamping and cutting out the Christmas star, I scored along each of the lines, and folded it (in "mountain and valley" fashion) to give it some dimension.  It's propped up in the middle by two stacked stampin' dimensionals, and secured to the card with a glue dot at each point.

The smaller stars in the background were stamped with silver pigment ink, and embossed with Iridescent Ice stampin' emboss powder.  I then added some silver glass glitter to the centres, using multipurpose liquid glue.  Here's a closer view of the shimmery stars:

Stamps: Christmas Star, Simply Stars, That's the Ticket
Card: Pacific Point, Silver Glimmer Paper, Whisper White
Ink: Pacific Point stampin' pad, Silver pigment inkpad
Other: Iridescent Ice stampin' emboss powder, Silver glass glitter, Ticket Duo builder punch, 1/8" Silver ribbon, Large Basic Rhinestone, Stylish Stripes embossing folder, stampin' dimensionals, glue dots, multipurpose liquid glue

The rest of the Design Team's samples are really beautiful - make sure you check them out.  We'd love to have you play along with our challenge.

JAI #192: A COLOUR CHALLENGE, AND CONGRATULATIONS, ALL IN ONE!

Today at Just Add Ink, we have a great colour challenge for you, chosen by Trish.

I used these colours to make a card for Jack, my eldest, to congratulate him on passing his driver's licence test.  He has done a LOT of driving in the lead-up to sitting the test, and it's a great relief to us all that he now has some more independence!

I couldn't quite get the look I was going for, without adding in Crumb Cake.  Here's the end result:

Stamps: Tag It, Dictionary, Simply Stars
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango
DSP: Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo and Crumb Cake stampin' pads
Other: Regals, Brights and Neutrals Candy Dots, Chalk Talk framelits, Circle Card thinlits, sponge daubers, multipurpose liquid glue

Be sure to check out the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team's samples.  We hope you will use these colours to make a card for our challenge - we'd love to see what you come up with.
