STAMPIN' UP! BIRTHDAY CARD FEATURING HE'S THE MAN DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

This week my youngest son turned 22.  He loves camping with his mates, so I thought the He's The Man DSP was ideal for his card this year.  I used the camping-patterned paper, and a die-cut Combi van from the sheet of die-cuts in the pack.

I love the playful font of the sentiment, from A Grand Kid.  I stamped it in Early Espresso ink on a piece of He's The Man DSP, then cut it out using an All That Die.  I sponged Sahara Sand ink around the edges of the sentiment label.  Rustic Metallic Dots are a great embellishment for masculine cards, don't you think?

I also used Rustic Metallic Dots as little "wheel caps" on the van.  On the strip of DSP that serves as  road, I stamped (in Sahara Sand ink) a couple of small images from Beauty of Friendship, to ground the tyres.

Some die cuts that complement the whole theme of the card are a couple of trees, cut from Soft Succulent and Sahara Sand card, using Majestic Mountain Dies, and an Early Espresso "mountain range" made with Basic Borders Dies.

STAMPIN' UP! BUTTERFLIES THANK YOU CARD IN POPPY PARADE

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Poppy Parade, which is an orangey-red in Stampin' Up!'s colour range.

My card shows how well some of our Annual Catalogue products go with those offered in the Mini Catalogue.

I started off my card design by repeatedly stamping the butterfly image, from Amazing Silhouettes, in Poppy Parade ink on Basic White card.  I then used the "splatter" stamp from Beauty of Friendship, to add further detail to my stamped piece.  Inside each butterfly space, I stamped the butterfly from Positive Thoughts, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I also used this ink to stamp some more background splatters.

Using Brilliant Wings Dies, I cut a vellum butterfly.  Before die-cutting it, I added Adhesive Sheet to the reverse of the vellum; this effectively meant I created a sticker, and no adhesive shows through the vellum now that the backing paper has been peeled off.  A few Classic Matte Dots were added to the butterfly.  I coloured some white baker's twine with my Dark Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends marker.  Two pieces of twine were laid across the top left corner of my card front, and another doubled length of twine used to create a bow, that I adhered with a rolled-up glue dot.

The sentiment was created with word dies that form part of the Amazing Silhouettes bundle (along with the stamp set used to create my butterfly background).  I attached Foam Adhesive Sheet to the reverse side of some Ombre Specialty Paper, and cut "thanks" and "you".  I used Paper Snips to trim the "s" off "thanks".  Using Basic White card (with Adhesive Sheet on the back), I cut the bottom layer of both words, and matted the Poppy Parade sentiment on top.  You can see the lovely shimmer on the Ombre Specialty Paper in this photo:
