STAMPIN' UP! FLOWERS OF BEAUTY BIRTHDAY CARD IN COASTAL CABANA

This week's Colour Creations blog hop, involving a number of us who are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators in Australia, is showcasing Coastal Cabana.  I don't often use this colour, but felt inspired to team it with a few neutrals, using this colour combination:

There's very little stamping (only the sentiment) on my card, but I have used several dies and an embossing folder to make this rather simple design!

I cut a Deckled Rectangle from Thick Basic White card, and embossed it using the gorgeous Painted Posies 3D embossing folder.  I adhered this to the Thick Basic White card base, and added all the details on top.

Here are some close-up shots of the different components.  Using an oval Unbounded Love Die, I cut one from Crumb Cake ink, and a second from Basic White card.  Using the Everyday Greetings stamp set (an Online Exclusive),  I stamped the sentiment on the Basic White centre piece, using Coastal Cabana ink for "Birthday", and Crumb Cake ink for "Wishes".  I then inlaid the Basic White piece into the Crumb Cake frame, and glued them down.

From Basic Beige card, I cut two sprigs of foliage, using a Flowers of Beauty Die.  I cut off part of one sprig, to reduce the bulk.  The flowers were cut from Coastal Cabana card, using another Flowers of Beauty Die (that cuts a number of flowers in one pass through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine).  I sponged the edges of each flower with Coastal Cabana ink, and once everything was assembled on the card front, I added an Earth Tones Shimmer Gem to each flower centre.  These gems are coming out in the new Mini Catalogue on 4th September.

After sticking down the embossed Deckled Rectangle, I laid two Coastal Cabana strips across the top, near the bottom of the card front.  Firstly I used an Everyday Details Die to create a border strip on Coastal Cabana card.  I sponged the edges with Coastal Cabana ink, before sticking it down.  I then laid a wider strip of Coastal Cabana DSP (with edges sponged in Coastal Cabana) over the top.  This provided an anchor for the foliage to be stuck down to.

The finishing touch is a bow created with two lengths of Crumb Cake Baker's Twine, added using a Mini Glue Dot.

STAMPIN' UP! COUNTRY BIRDHOUSE BIRTHDAY CARDS IN BLACKBERRY BLISS

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Blackberry Bliss.  I was inspired when I saw on Pinterest this colour combination, suggested by Mary Fish:

I had a lot of fun working with these colours, that I wouldn't have thought to put together!  Using Stampin' Up!'s Country Birdhouse bundle, I came up with these two cards, that I love.

CARD #1:

I went through the whole process (hours, as it turned out!) of making this card, and photographing it, without noticing that I had glued the bow on backwards.  Ah well ... the imperfections of handmade, hey?!

On the background paper, from the Country Lace DSP pack, I stamped the splatter pattern in Basic Beige and Blackberry Bliss inks.

The birdhouse was stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on another piece of Designer Series Paper from the same pack, and a third Country Lace patterned paper was used for the scalloped portion of the roof.  The striped and leafy Blackberry Bliss papers, used for the birdhouse roof and base, are from the Neutrals 6"x6" DSP pack.

I sponged Basic Beige ink around the edges of the Basic Beige papers, and Blackberry Bliss ink around the edges of the Blackberry Bliss paper pieces.

The bird and flowers were stamped on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, in Stazon Jet Black ink.  I then watercoloured the images, using Summer Splash and Basic Beige for the bird, and Blackberry Bliss and Basic Beige for the floral pieces.  When I die-cut them, I also cut some little leaves from Basic Beige card.

Blackberry Bliss Transparent Adhesive-Backed Dots were added to finish off the design.

Here's a close-up of the stamped sentiment, created with the new Everyday Greetings stamp set (an Online Exclusive item, that doesn't appear in a catalogue).  I used the same DSP as for the main part of the birdhouse.  After stamping the sentiment, in Basic Beige and Blackberry Bliss inks, I cut it out using a Deckled Rectangles Die.  I sponged the edges with Basic Beige ink, then adhered it to the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper strip (also sponged with Basic Beige ink).

CARD #2:

Again I've used papers from the Country Lace and Unbounded Beauty DSP packs.  The sentiment on this card is from the Country Birdhouse stamp set.  I stamped the first part of the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink, on a piece of Basic White card.  After cropping it with a Deckled Rectangles Die (running it through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine a second time, moving the die, to custom-size it), I sponged the edges with Basic Beige ink.  The second part of the sentiment was stamped in Basic Beige ink directly onto the Designer Series Paper.  I was intentional in making the second part a little more subtle, but it perhaps is too subtle!

A very thin strip of Blackberry Bliss card divides the two patterned papers used in the background.

The birdhouse, bird and flowers were all stamped on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, using Stazon Jet Black ink.  I watercoloured the birdhouse in Blackberry Bliss ink, then, when dry, stamped the woodgrain pattern on the roof and base using Blackberry Bliss ink.

I adhered a piece of the Basic Beige DSP behind the two cut-out circles on the birdhouse.

Blackberry Bliss Transparent Adhesive-Backed Dots were used to embellish this card, too.

Because this card base is Blackberry Bliss, I added a Basic White panel inside.  I stamped the floral outlines in Blackberry Bliss ink, and when sponging the edges of the panel with Basic Beige ink, I smeared some ink with my finger.  In an attempt to minimise the effect of this "oopsie", I randomly stamped the splatter image in Basic Beige ink!
