STAMPIN' UP! MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD IN SAHARA SAND

The colour we're focussing on, for this week's Colour Creations blog hop, is Sahara Sand.  This neutral  is not dissimilar to Crumb Cake, but is a little more grey.

I have again taken inspiration from an item in my house - this tissue box:

I like the woodgrain background, the hexagons, and the soft blue and green that I might not otherwise have thought to put together.  Here is what I came up with, using Stampin' Up! products, and the colours Sahara Sand, Balmy Blue, Soft Sea Foam and Night of Navy:

I rubbed my Sahara Sand inkpad directly onto the inside of the Timber 3D embossing folder, before inserting a Sahara Sand card panel and running it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine.  This helps to give a little more definition to the embossed piece.

Using a few different background stamps, I added natural-looking details to the die-cut hexagons.  The Sahara Sand hexagons are stamped with the Birch stamp, the Balmy Blue hexagons with Gentle Waves, and the Soft Sea Foam hexagons with Stacked Stone.

I used two hexagon dies together (one slightly smaller than the other) to die-cut the Night of Navy hexagon frames.  By adhering Adhesive Sheets to the back of my card pieces, in all four colours, before die-cutting them, I created "stickers" that were easy to place, with no glue mess.

The sentiment, from Slim Sayings, was stamped in Night of Navy ink on a strip of Sahara Sand card.  Some bronze Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots finish off my card.

Here's a closer look at some of the details:

STAMPIN' UP! SIMPLY SUCCULENTS FRAMED OH SO OMBRE CARD

I was inspired by Erica Cerwin's sweet cactus card, on this post, to use Oh So Ombre DSP as a background, and a die-cut frame around the main image on my card.  I have used watercoloured Simply Succulents as the feature of my card:

After sponging the edges of a piece of Rococo Rose Oh So Ombre paper, and adhering it to a Rococo Rose card mat, I embossed the panel with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder.  The sweet little sentiment is from the Many Messages bundle, and is white-embossed on Basic Black card.  Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon helps balance out the black sentiment die-cut.

To create the frame, I first stamped the Birch background stamp on a piece of Smoky Slate card, using Smoky Slate ink.  I used Stitched Rectangles Dies, of two different sizes, to cut out the frame. Although it's a little hard to tell, I used a blending brush with Smoky Slate ink to add a bit of colour over the stamped image and the stitched edges.  Some of the leftover stamped card was used to die-cut the grey succulents peeking out from behind the solid stamped and watercoloured succulents.  Woven Threads sequins were the perfect colour to use as embellishments on my card.
