JAI #209: JUST ADD LAYERS

This week at Just Add Ink, Delys has laid down the challenge to "just add layers" to your card or other papercraft project.

I love to add layers to my cards ("one layer", and "clean and simple", are terms that terrify me!).  I stayed fairly conservative with my sample for this week's challenge, though, as it had to be posted - and I wanted it to reach the recipient in reasonable condition!

Using the beautiful Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper, I was able to add extra dimension to the pattern already printed in the paper, by cutting out and adhering extra roses.  Dazzling Details adds a bit more 'pretty' to the flowers.

The sentiment has been layered up on stampin' dimensionals.

STAMPIN' UP! BANNER BLAST MASCULINE CARD

Yesterday was my husband's birthday,  and the card I made him features one of the upcoming Sale-a-Bration stamp sets, called Banner Blast.  This set contains, amongst other stamps, a variety of very sweet little flag stamps. It will be available from 28th January, along with a co-ordinating punch.  These items are free with qualifying orders (one freebie per $90.00 spent on catalogue product) - how cool is that?!

JAI #175: STAMPIN' UP!'S BEAUTIFULLY BAROQUE

This week's Just Add Ink challenge is to use this sketch as the basis for a card or other papercraft project:

 

 

I used the sketch to make a special milestone birthday card (the 'number' is stamped inside the card) for a dear friend who is a little partial to pink.

 

I was keen to use my new Beautifully Baroque embossing folder with Primrose Petals Core'dinations cardstock, so that was my starting point.  My trusty Color Coach tells me that Pink Pirouette pairs well with Primrose Petals, so I went with that!

 

Here's the card, featuring the lovely embossing folder and matching Beautifully Baroque stamp (one of my favourites from the new Stampin' Up! catalogue):

The card I have to share with you today is the first one I made using the new Mosaic Madness stamp set.  I love, love, love all the new colours that have been introduced into the Stampin' Up! range (there are 10 of them - glorious!).  Today's card features Smoky Slate, a beautiful soft grey, paired with So Saffron (I can see I'll be using this colour a lot more now - how good do these colours look together?!).  The new Stampin' Up! It's a case of "out with the old, and in with the new" on the card I have to share with you tonight.  Most of the products I've used on this card, which is making its way interstate to a very special young person, are from Stampin' Up!'s Seasonal Catalogue.  These products are available to buy only until 1st July.  I've mixed things up a bit, by popping on one of my new "favourites" - a great sentiment set called Label Love, that has a matching (Artisan Label) punch.
