STAMPIN' UP! HEART OF CHRISTMAS - WEEK 21

For tonight's Heart of Christmas blog hop, I have made a mostly-white Christmas card, with gold and silver accents, and the tiniest touches of Real Red.  I haven't done a very good job of photographing it ... I promise it looks so much nicer in real life.  My son (26) said "oh, that actually looks quite elegant, Mum" - high praise!  LOL.

To a Thick Basic White card base, I added a layer of Silver Foil card.  The main panel of the card front is Thick Basic White card embossed with the beautiful Merriest Frames Hybrid embossing folder.  I die-cut the rectangle insert for the front (using Merriest Frames Dies), and embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder before adhering to my card.

Adhesive Sheets got a good workout on this card!  They are the ideal adhesive for fiddly die-cut "bits"; so clean.  After using Christmas Cheer word dies, I matted the "happy" cut from Thick Basic White card, onto another layer cut from Gold Metallic Paper.  The word "Christmas" was stamped in Versamark ink on a Thick Basic White card scrap, and heat-embossed with gold embossing powder, before being cut out using a Tasteful Labels die.

The gold holly leaves, and Real Red berries, were cut using Christmas Cheer Dies.  I die-cut little poinsettias, in Thick Basic White and Silver Foil card, from Merriest Frames Dies.

Some silver epoxy embellishments finish off my card design.

STAMPIN' UP! HEART OF CHRISTMAS - WEEK 19

Every Monday night, until the end of November, a group of us shares Christmas projects made with Stampin' Up! products.  It seems most of my Christmas cards lately have been green (I can't get enough of the two new In Color greens), so I made a conscious effort to focus on red for tonight's card.

The gingham background paper, and the DSP strip behind the die-cut "cheer" are from the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper pack.  The colours in this pack are Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow and Real Red, so I've co-ordinated the elements of my card design with the paper.

The sentiment (both stamped and die-cut parts) is from the Words of Cheer bundle.  Onto the gingham background, I adhered a vertical strip of Basic White card that I had embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.  A narrower strip of Heartwarming Hugs DSP then provides a mat for the die cut word.  I die-cut "CHEER" from Real Red card (making sure to use Adhesive Sheet on the back of the card, to create letter stickers - no mess!).  These letters are stuck to a base layer of Cork Specialty Paper, that I thought went nicely with the Crumb Cake card base.  Before sticking down the double-layered word, I added a wreath (see below).

Here's a close up of the lovely textures and patterns:

I die cut, from Mossy Meadow card, a wreath using the Seasonal Swirls Dies.  Holly leaf sprigs (from Christmas Cheer Dies) were cut from Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow card, and added to the wreath.
A Real Red satin bow, and Wonderful Gems, finish off the card.

STAMPIN' UP! HEART OF CHRISTMAS - WEEK 15

Every Monday night I, along with friends who are Stampin' Up! demonstrators in Australia, take part in a blog hop to share ideas for using Stampin' Up! products on Christmas projects.

Tonight I have a soft, pastel-coloured, Christmas card (not my usual thing, but it's good to try different things, isn't it?!), featuring Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper, and the Words of Cheer bundle.

The main, stamped and die-cut, image was stamped in Versamark ink on Basic White card, and heat-embossed with silver embossing powder.  I then used Stampin' Blends markers in Mint Macaron and Mossy Meadow to colour the foliage, and my Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker to colour the poinsettias and berries.  Stampin' Blends give a much nicer result, but unfortunately we don't have Blushing Bride in our alcohol marker range.

After colouring the flower petals, I used the fine tip of my Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker to add some line detail:

I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink, on a piece of Basic White card, that I then turned into a custom label.

Here's how I created that label shape.  I started off by using a Pierced Blooms Die, but decided it was a little big for the space (I wanted the dotty embossed background to show nicely).  I overlaid the larger of the two deckled circle dies from Tasteful Labels, and ran it back through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine.  Here is a visual of the two steps:

Inside the card I added some simple decoration, to tie in with the front:
