JAI #204: OH, HAPPY DAY

This week's Just Add Ink challenge is to use this gorgeous colour combination on your papercraft project:

Once I'd decided on Pistachio Pudding as the feature colour of my card, I had a bit of trouble working out how to incorporate Crumb Cake - unheard of, as it's my all-time favourite neutral!  I focussed on Pistachio Pudding with gold accents, and ended up sponging around the edges of everything with Crumb Cake ink.  I think the card I made would work well for an engagement or wedding.

Stamps: Starburst Sayings, Delicate Doilies
Card: Very Vanilla, Pistachio Pudding Core'dinations
Ink: Pistachio Pudding and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Versamark inkpad
Other: Gold stampin' emboss powder, Starburst framelits, Circles framelits, 1" Circle punch, Basic Pearls, Gold Sequin Trim, Pistachio Pudding stretch ruffle trim, Beautifully Baroque embossing folder, sponge dauber, sticky strip, sanding block

Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team samples - just stunning.  We hope you'll play along with us!

JAI #177: STAMPIN' UP!'S HAPPY DAY MEETS DELICATE DOILIES

It's challenge time again at Just Add Ink, and this week brings a gorgeous colour combo that Mae selected from Stampin' Up!'s Color Coach:

I created a background panel for my card by stamping Delicate Doilies images, in all three colours, on Whisper White card.  I LOVE how these colours work together!  The flourish, and a sentiment, from Happy Day were stamped with a little doily from Delicate Doilies, and die cut using a heart framelit and my Big Shot.  Some new ribbon - chevron and seam binding - and scattered rhinestones, and my card was finished.  I think this would make a really nice contemporary engagement or wedding card, or a birthday card ... what do you think?

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Happy Day
Card: Soft Sky, Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Ink: Soft Sky, Smoky Slate and Calypso Coral stampin' pads
Other: Hearts Framelits, Stamp-a-ma-jig, sponge dauber, Smoky Slate chevron ribbon, Soft Sky seam binding, Basic Rhinestones, glue dots

This colour challenge has produced some gorgeous creations from the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team - be sure to check them out!  We hope you will play along with the challenge, too.

JAI #148: A SPARKLY, BLINGY CHRISTMAS CARD IN BLUES

To close off the year of Just Add Ink challenges, we're asking you to join in with us and "Just Add Christmas" to your papercraft project.  Hopefully you're not all "Christmassed-out" already; this time of year gets so overwhelmingly busy, doesn't it?

The card I have to share with you today was inspired by my lovely friend Sue Madex.  Sue has shown some cards on her blog using a very cool, and very easy, technique -  reverse masking.  Now, I simply can't make one-layer cards, so I've tizzed mine up a bit - lots of bling and shimmer on this one!

I started off with a panel of Naturals White cardstock, and used the two torn edges of a piece of copy paper to mask off an area to be sponged and stamped on; Dotto (temporary adhesive) worked perfectly to keep the paper in place.  I sponged the area with Baja Breeze ink, then stamped three of the doilies from Delicate Doilies, using Marina Mist, Island Indigo and Midnight Muse ink.  After I'd left the ink to dry (for what I thought was long enough!), I overstamped  a few doilies in Whisper White craft ink, and sprinkled Iridescent Ice embossing powder over the top - thinking there'd be just a few sparkly doilies.  Well, here's proof of how great Stampin' Up!'s new inkpads are for embossing .... the embossing powder stuck to the sponged background as well, giving a lovely sparkly effect over the whole panel!  Take a look:

I ran some Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the top 'torn' edge, and adhered Silver Glass Glitter - sooo pretty.  A die-cut strip of silver glimmer paper, and a few rhinestones, added even more sparkle.

Here's the finished card:

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, More Merry Messages
Card: Baja Breeze, Naturals White, Island Indigo, silver glimmer paper
Ink: Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Island Indigo and Midnight Muse stampin' pads, Versamark inkpad, Whisper White craft stampin' pad
Other: White embossing powder, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Decorative Label punch, Adorning Accents edgelits die, Island Indigo ruffled ribbon, silver Glass Glitter, Basic Rhinestones, stampin' sponge, sponge dauber, multipurpose liquid glue, sticky strip, glue dots

For even more inspiration for handmade Christmas projects, check out the rest of the Design Team's samples.    We have loved having you play along with our challenges this year.

Merry Christmas to you, and all of those dear to you.  We look forward to sharing more projects with you when we return from our break, on 18th January 2013!

JAI #130: JUST ADD ...... BLUE & BLING!

This week at Just Add Ink, Nikki has set a great challenge ... to use blue, and bling, on our card/scrapbook page.  The possibilities are endless!  You'll see how much of a variety the Design Team have come up with .... and we'd love you to join us.

My first thought was to use a soft blue, like Bashful Blue, but I decided to make a card for a teal-loving friend who needed a bit of a lift, so I went with Island Indigo.

Here's my sample for this week's challenge:

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Tagtastic
Card: Glossy White, Island Indigo
Ink: Island Indigo and Whisper White stampin' pads, Versamark inkpad
Other: Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch, XL Oval punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Mat Pack and Paper Piercing tool, Designer Printed brad, Brights Glimmer brad, Circle Ice brad, Basic Rhinestones, sponge dauber, seam binding (not SU!)

I based this card on one of the very first cards I made using Delicate Doilies - you can see it here.  That card, in neutrals, stands out to me as one of my all-time favourite cards, and I've been meaning to try similar cards in different colours.  I'm really pleased with how this came out, and must try the design in some more colours!  Nothing quite like CASEing yourself, is there?!

DELICATE DOILIES ONE SHEET WONDER

Recently I shared with you a card I'd made using Stampin' Up!'s Delicate Doilies stamps.  I mentioned I'd made a "one sheet wonder".  I had stamped the doilies all over an A5 piece of Whisper White card, and was able to make three cards out of my handmade patterned paper.  Today I'm sharing with you the other two cards that resulted from the doily panel.

I made one card with a Certainly Celery focus.  I enjoyed making this one, because it's not a green I normally favour.  It pairs beautifully with Elegant Eggplant, though.  I used a purple Sharpie to colour some of Stampin' Up!'s Basic Pearls; such a sweet embellishment to use as flower centres, I think.  Here's my card, using my trusty Top Note die:

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Trendy Trees
Card: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant
Ink: Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant, Pool Party, Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise stampin' pads
Other: Top Note die, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Itty Bitty shapes punch, Basic Pearls, sponge daubers, mini glue dots

My third card is a bit more 'regal' looking, with Elegant Eggplant (such a rich purple) taking centre stage.  I stamped one of the doily images repeatedly on the base card, in Elegant Eggplant ink, and used a white gel pen to lighten the overall look a little.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Bring on the Cake
Card: Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery, Pool Party, Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise stampin' pads
Other: XL Oval punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Basic Rhinestones, stampin' dimensionals, Whisper White satin ribbon, White organza ribbon, mini glue dots, sponge daubers, white gel pen, sticky strip

Which is your favourite?   Out of all three cards, I think I like the last one the best.  Let me know what you think!  I love the different looks achieved by using the one piece of card.

CTD#191: STAMPIN' UP!'S DELICATE DOILIES HAVE BEEN DUSTED OFF!

It has been a while since I inked up my Delicate Doilies stamp set, so I've had a bit of fun with it today.  After seeing the gorgeous colour challenge at Color Throwdown this week, I dreamt up a doily card - so had to sit down and make it this afternoon.  I've kept it simple, letting all the bold-coloured doilies do the talking!

Here is the scrumptious colour combo to be used on a card, or other papercraft project:

... and here's what I came up with, after creating a "one sheet wonder" with colourful stamped doilies:

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card: Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White and Certainly Celery
Ink: Certainly Celery, Pacific Point, Elegant Eggplant and Pool Party stampin' pads
Other: Tempting Turquoise 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Word Window punch, Lots of Tags sizzlits die, Basic Rhinestones, mini glue dots, stampin' dimensionals

BLOG HOP - NEW STAMPIN' UP! PRODUCTS

I'm taking part today in a blog hop with friends, to share some papercraft projects we've created with products from the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalogue.  There are 9 of us in total; please visit all of our blogs, and leave a bit of comment love.  Hopefully you'll be inspired by all the different ideas we're sharing with you.  You may have come from Ros Davidson's blog, to start, but if not you can visit her after doing the rounds!  Just click on the link at the end of each blog post, to go on to the next person.

There are SO many new products that I've fallen in love with, in this catalogue.  I decided to focus my projects on two stamp sets, to show you how differently they can be used.  "Delicate Doilies" was a must-have set for me, as was "Tagtastic" - one of the new hostess sets.  This is a set that can be earnt by spending $300 or more, or holding a home workshop with sales of $300 or more.  (Believe me, it's not hard to spend over $300 with this catalogue!!)

My first card is in neutral tones, which I love to work with.   I've enjoyed playing with several new products, to make this card!  I made the shabby bow by wetting some Crumb Cake seam binding with Champagne Shimmer Mist (shimmer paint mixed with Isocol, in a spray bottle).  I scrunched the ribbon, and dried it with my heat gun, before creating the bow.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Tagtastic
Card: Confetti White, Crumb Cake
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Soft Suede stampin' pads, Whisper White craft stampin' pad
Other: Crumb Cake seam binding, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch, Champagne shimmer mist, Antique Brads, Glimmer Brads basics, sponge dauber, mini glue dots

The colour inspiration for my next card came from the Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Papers in our new catalogue.  I've chosen to work with Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo ..... and my long-neglected Stampin' Pastels (chalks) have been shown some love.

I stamped the large doily randomly, on Whisper White card, using Whisper White craft ink.  This is a slow-drying, juicy, ink that is perfect for applying colour with Stampin' Pastels and sponge daubers.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Tagtastic
Card: Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Ink: Whisper White craft stampin' pad, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie stampin' pads
Other: Stampin' Pastels, sponge daubers, Whisper White Organza ribbon, Fleurettes II, Ice Cream Parlor button, Circles #2 die, 1 3/4" circle punch, white thread, mini glue dots

For my third project, I decided I wanted to use the new Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper.  I chose the lined sheet (just like note paper), and used Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Pool Party inks to stamp doilies all over the paper.  I've ended up using only a couple of small 7.5cm squares of the stamped paper, to decorate a Fancy Favor box.  Here is the finished product, stuffed with tissue paper, just waiting for the addition of some jewellery, chocolate, or some such delicious gift:

Here is a closer view of the front of the box.  I adhered a stamped panel (without the sentiment, ribbon and rhinestones) to the back of the box, too.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Tagtastic, Delightful Decorations
Card: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White
DSP: Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Pool Party and Basic Gray stampin' pads
Other: Curly Label punch, sponge daubers, Basic Rhinestones, Whisper White taffeta ribbon, Fancy Favor die, Big Shot, mini glue dots

I could go on and on, because the possibilities with these stamp sets really are endless, but I will stop now!  I hope I've inspired you to play with these stamp sets.  I had a lot of fun making these projects.

The next stop on the blog hop is Alisha Watson's blog.  Alisha's creativity is sure to inspire you - it always inspires me!  Thanks for your visit today.

SNEAK PEEK OF DELICATE DOILIES AND POOL PARTY

I have in my possession several new goodies, pre-ordered in readiness for the 1st September launch of Stampin' Up!'s new Idea Book & Catalogue.  Feeling a bit overwhelmed, and not sure where to start with some of my products, I decided a good old blog surf was in order.  When I stumbled across this stunning card by Lucy Abrams, I was instantly inspired.

I started out with a card base of Soft Suede, which I stamped using the smallest doily stamp from the new Delicate Doilies set.  I've used a couple of the other doily stamps, and Whisper White craft ink, on the main panel of Pool Party card (isn't it a gorgeous colour?).  I've used a new embossing folder, some new paper, and a new butterfly stamp, for my central image.   LOVE how this card turned out.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Creative Elements (both available from 1st Sept.), Sincere Salutations
Card: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Pool Party
DSP: Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper (available from 1st Sept.), Soft Suede Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Soft Suede and Pool Party stampin' pads, Whisper White craft stampin' pad
Other: Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die, Victoria crochet trim, Beautiful Wings embosslits die, Wide Oval punch, Designer Frames embossing folder (available 1st Sept.), Antique brad, sponge dauber, Mat Pack and Paper Piercing tool, mini glue dots, stampin' dimensionals
