STAMPIN' UP! JAR OF FLOWERS BIRTHDAY CARD IN MELON MAMBO

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Melon Mambo.

I've used the Jar of Flowers stamp set to create a bouquet of deep pink tulips in a jar.  I started off by stamping the flowers, jar, and extra stems inside the jar, on a piece of Basic White card, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The jar lid (that we're imagining has a hole in the top, in which the flowers sit) was stamped separately in Versamark ink, and heat-embossed with silver embossing powder.  I fussy-cut the embossed image, and glued it on after colouring the bouquet.

To colour the main images, I used Stampin' Blends markers in Melon Mambo, Old Olive, So Saffron and Fresh Freesia.  The water in the jar is stamped in Pool Party ink, that I stamped off first onto scrap paper, to give a lighter impression on my card.  I cut out the main panel with an Ornate Layers Die, and matted it on a layer of Silver Foil.

After colouring the flowers, I added Wink of Stella to the tulips, for a little shimmer to complement the silver elements on my card.  I used Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends markers to colour White Glittered Organdy ribbon, and rhinestones.

Underneath the focal panel, I added a Square Vellum Doily, cut in half so I could extend it out the sides of the Silver Foil layer.  The sentiment strip was made into a banner by flagging one end with the Tailored Tag punch.  The rhinestones were strategically placed to try to cover up ink I managed to smudge on my main panel ... but I'm not sure I was entirely successful!

STAMPIN' UP! GLIMMER BUTTERFLIES BIRTHDAY CARD

When I was playing yesterday with the Brilliant Wings Dies, and the colour scheme for the current Color Hues challenge,  I came up with a second card.

Starting with a Thick Basic White card base, I adhered a slightly smaller Basic White layer that has been embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder (available 3rd August).

I glued a vertical strip of Granny Apple Green, and another of Bermuda Bay, Designer Series Paper on the left-hand side of this embossed piece.  Overlaid on top of them is a strip of Basic White card on which I stamped the sentiment, from the Celebrate With Flowers stamp set.

The three different-sized butterflies were cut from Rainbow Glimmer Paper, using Brilliant Wings Dies.  I like how the sparkly paper looks against the slightly rough-looking embossed background:

At the bottom of the sentiment strip, I added a glittery black bow, and some Matte Black Dots to finish off my card:

Listed below are all the current products I used on my card.  As the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder is not available for purchase until 3rd August, I can't yet link to it in my online store.

STAMPIN' UP! BIRTHDAY CARD - CELEBRATE WITH FLOWERS

I was immediately drawn to, and had to buy, the Celebrate With Flowers stamp set, for the vertical greeting.  However, there are other lovely stamps in the set, too!

Today's card features three of the other stamps - the leafy stem, one of the sweet flowers, and the stamens (is that what they are?  I'm going with it!).  I stamped the stems in Crumb Cake ink, the flowers in Fresh Freesia ink, and added Smoky Slate stamens to the flowers.

As you can see, I have used my favourite Stitched Greenery Die for the background.  I used the die to decorate both a piece of Crumb Cake card, and a piece of Fresh Freesia card.   I stamped the images on Basic White card, that I then cut out with a Stitched So Sweetly Die.  The embellishments I've used are Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon, and Metallic Pearls.  I cut a Square Vellum Doily in half and adhered one part behind the scalloped rectangle panel at the bottom, and the other half at the top.

The sentiment, from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, has been stamped in Smoky Slate ink, on Basic White card.  I used the Double Oval Punch to crop the sentiment, and a leftover piece of the Crumb Cake card that had Stitched Greenery Die detail on.
