JAI #170 : JUST ADD ..... LEAVES

This week at Just Add Ink, we are challenging you to make a card or papercraft item incorporating LEAVES.  This challenge was my suggestion .... I love "earthy" things!

Well, the card I have come up with is a veritable "leaf-fest".  I've used leaves from three different stamp sets.

The main (how cute is it?) image, from Stampin' Up!'s Four Seasons stamp set, was first inked up using a Crumb Cake stampin' pad.  I then "thumped" the rubber with markers - Soft Suede and Early Espresso - to give a bit of colour variation.  It has turned out to be a rather subtle effect, but thought I'd tell you what I'd done anyway!

Stamps: Four Seasons, Confetti, Lovely As A Tree, Itty Bitty Banners
Card: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
Ink: Crumb Cake stampin' pad, Early Espresso stampin' pad and marker, Soft Suede marker, Cherry Cobbler stampin' pad and marker
Other: 1" Circle punch, 2 1/2" Circle punch, Perfect Pennants Bigz die, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, Naturals Trim ribbon, Bitty Banners framelits, Modern Label punch, Neutrals brads, sponge dauber, stampin' dimensionals

Please check out the rest of the Design Team samples over at Just Add Ink.  We hope you'll join in the fun this week!

JAI #163 : JUST ADD ..... A FUN BACKGROUND

The challenge at Just Add Ink this week, courtesy of Nikki,  is to add a fun background to a card/scrapbook page that you make.

I love to create my own backgrounds by repeatedly stamping images on cardstock, then putting the whole panel through an embossing folder, to add texture.  I love greens, and leaves ... and I think that shows on this card!  I've kept the card simple, to showcase the main stamped panel.  After embossing the piece of card, I sponged River Rock ink over some of the raised design.

Stamps: French Foliage, Summer Solstice, Confetti, Perfect Punches
Card: Wild Wasabi, River Rock, Very Vanilla
Ink: Garden Green, Lucky Limeade, River Rock, Wild Wasabi stampin' pads
Other: Wild Wasabi 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Oval punch, sponge dauber, Vine Street embossing folder, glue dots

The rest of the Just Add Ink design team have come up with some fabulous fun backgrounds, so make sure you check them out.  We hope you'll play along with our challenge!

FUSION #1: STAMPIN' UP!'s SECRET GARDEN ... AND MORE *BRIGHT* FLOWERS

**This is my second post for today - please scroll down to see my latest "Sent With Love" post.  Thank you! **

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a brand new card challenge blog on the block - it's called Fusion, and here's the first challenge:

Whenever there's the option of doing one challenge or the other, I feel compelled to combine them both .... so my card's all about the chevrons, and bright flowers.  It's a bit hard to see in this photo, but the Basic Black panel has been embossed with my Chevron embossing folder (you can see that in the close-up photo below):

STAMPIN' UP! OWL PUNCH ANNIVERSARY CARD

Today hubby and I have been married 19 years.  Seems so much longer ......... however, we have known one another for 29 years, so I think I can be excused for feeling that way!

I saw a very cute card on Pinterest; I think it was created by Kathy Kennedy, but there is no watermark on the photo to confirm this.  Here's my version, for my guy who insists on little fuss and is really not "into" cards:

Stamps: Confetti, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card: Naturals Ivory, Old Olive, Early Espresso, Real Red, Whisper White, Basic Black, Always Artichoke
DSP: Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper and Melon Mambo Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Old Olive and Real Red stampin' pads, White Signo gel pen
Other: Owl builder punch, Scallop Oval punch, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, sponge dauber, Bird builder punch, Basic Rhinestone, Multipurpose liquid glue

To mark our special occasion, we get to attend a long, drawn-out, cricket presentation evening (for #2 son).  Special!  Soon we'll enjoy a family weekend staying in the city, so that will make up for it!

Happy anniversary, hubby.  We've packed a lot into our first 19 years of marriage; wonder what the next 19 years will bring?!

STAMPIN' UP! BABY GIRL CARD FOR DD #45 & US #203

This is my second post for today; I am starting to feel well enough, after a bit of a "blah" week, to head back into my craft room.

When I saw this week's Dynamic Duos challenge, I immediately knew what I wanted to make (which is super-rare!).  Take a look at these pretty colours:

I am also playing along for the first time with Unscripted Sketches.  Here's the sketch challenge they're running this week:

....... and here's my card, combining the two:

SC 074/13: A STAMPIN' UP! EASTER CARD

With only a few weeks until Easter is upon us, Sunny Challenges & Creations is running a challenge to make an Easter creation, based on this sketch:

Last year my friend Judy let me use her Everybunny stamp set, from Stampin' Up!, to stamp out a few images.  They've sat unloved for a long time, but one of the cute images was perfect for this challenge, so I had a bit of fun colouring it in and creating a card.  I consulted my Stampin' Up! Color Coach, and decided on a colour combination of Certainly Celery, Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede.

I have rotated the sketch, and taken a bit of liberty with placement of the sentiment .... and here's the end result:

Stamps: Everybunny, Wacky Wishes, Confetti
Card: Certainly Celery, Pink Pirouette, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Jet Black Staz-on inkpad, Certainly Celery, Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede stampin' pads
Other: Blender pens, Cloudy Day embossing folder, Itty Bitty shapes punch, Basic Pearls, XL Oval punch, Victoria Crochet trim, Pink Pirouette taffeta ribbon, sponge dauber, stampin' dimensionals, multipurpose liquid glue, glue dots

SC 056/12: STAMPIN' UP!'S SUMMER AFTERNOON

You may recall that I was rather sad at finishing up my time with Sunny Challenges & Creations at the end of August.  Well, I am pleased to say that my Guest Designer spot has been extended for the month of September.  The person who was going to feature as Guest Designer for this month had to withdraw for family reasons; a truly sad time for her, but I am honoured to be able to step up.

This week's challenge is a pretty cute, fun one - to make a square card, measuring 10cm x 10cm.  I didn't realise quite how small a canvas it would be to work with, but I loved it!  Here's the sketch to use as a starting point for the card:

I have had a play with a few new products just released in Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalogue for Australia and New Zealand.  Some of my favourites are the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper, and the new In Colors.  Summer Starfruit is a new colour that I think is rather polarising ....  but I LOVE it!

Here's my take on the sketch:

Stamps: Summer Afternoon, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Confetti
Card: Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit, Watercolour paper
DSP: Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper
Ink: Crumb Cake stampin' pad and marker, Midnight Muse stampin' pad and marker, Soft Suede marker, Summer Starfruit stampin' pad and marker, Basic Gray marker, Old Olive marker, Timber Brown Staz-on (not SU!)
Other: Blender pens, Labels Collection Framelits dies, Bitty Banners Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Sweet Buttons embosslits, Beautiful Wings embosslits, Basic Pearl, Linen Thread, sponge daubers, stampin' dimensionals, Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team samples at Sunny Challenges & Creations - and please, play along with us!  We'd love to see your card!

STAMPIN' UP!'S FOX & FRIENDS : FOR DD #11 AND SC 049/12

I'm on a bit of a 'baby card' kick at the moment, and had an idea that works for two of my favourite challenges.

Dynamic Duos has this gorgeous, soft, colour combination as the challenge this week:

and Sunny Challenges & Creations' challenge is to use circles on a papercraft project:

Here's the card I made, combining these two challenges:

Stamps: Fox & Friends, A to Z, Confetti, Short & Sweet
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Versamark inkpad
Other: 1 3/4" Circle punch, White embossing powder, sponge daubers, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Baja Breeze seam binding, Pink Pirouette taffeta ribbon, Whisper White taffeta ribbon, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, mini glue dots

My boys are back at school, after 2 weeks holiday (actually, the eldest had almost 4 weeks, since he went on a Central Australia trip with school in the week leading up to the holidays), so the house is very quiet today!  As much as I love the holidays, I do like to get back into a 'normal' routine - although soon you might have to remind me I said that, as we get busier and busier, leading into cricket pre-season!!

JAI #125 : JUST ADD WINTER

The theme at Just Add Ink this week is WINTER, which is very apt as I type out this post on a miserably cold, very wet, Melbourne day!

My first thought was to make a snowy scene for a Christmas card, but I decided against that.  Christmas falls in Summer down here in the southern hemisphere (although Melbourne is generally a bit mild and showery on Christmas Day .... but you have to expect the unexpected with Melbourne's weather!).  I have instead created a little scene with Trendy Trees - one of my cute, neglected, stamp sets.  There's a light snowfall happening, courtesy of the Confetti stamp set, and I've used silver glass glitter to represent scattered snowflakes on the ground.

Stamps: Trendy Trees, Confetti, Sincere Salutations
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink: Whisper White craft stampin' pad, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi and Garden Green stampin' pads, Basic Black stampin' pad
Other: Stamp-a-ma-jig, Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, Mat Pack and Paper Piercing tool, sponge dauber, XL Oval punch, Designer Frames embossing folder, Tombow liquid glue, Silver Glass Glitter, mini glue dots

Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team's samples, for some winter inspiration.  We hope to see you playing along with us!

DD #8: STAMPIN' UP!'S BABY BUNDLE IN GREENS

I love this week's monochromatic challenge over at Dynamic Duos -  greens are a favourite of mine.

I've done a complete 360-degree turnaround, with River Rock. When Stampin' Up! first introduced it as an In Color a few years ago, I didn't like it at all. Once it made its way into our core colour range, and I played with it more, I grew to really love it.  It really is beautiful, paired with Always Artichoke.

Here's my card for this week's challenge:

Stamps: Baby Bundle, Short & Sweet, Confetti
Card: Confetti White, River Rock textured, Whisper White
DSP: River Rock and Always Artichoke Patterns Designer Series Papers
Ink: Always Artichoke and River Rock stampin' pads
Other: Always Artichoke seam binding, Clear Circle die, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Owl Builder punch (tiny heart), Basic Rhinestones, sponge daubers, Stamp-a-ma-jig

STAMPIN' UP!'S "GIVE A GIFT" FOR PP#86

I have been playing with my Give a Gift stamp set (sooooo cute - all 7 images co-ordinate with Stampin' Up! punches, which I love).  I had an idea in mind that worked perfectly to enter in this week's colour challenge at The Paper Players:

I've made a little Easter box, with a ribbon handle (does that make it a bag??!).  The ribbon is gorgeous, but was a little difficult to photograph.

To attach the handle, I simply punched a small hole in each side of the box, and knotted the ribbon on the inside.  I added a little grosgrain bow to the outside to 'pretty it up'.  Here's a side view:

Stamps: Give a Gift, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Confetti
Card: Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Whisper White
DSP: Pool Party Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Crumb Cake stampin' pad and marker, Jet Black Staz-On inkpad, Wisteria Wonder marker, Pear Pizzazz marker, Pool Party marker
Other: In Color glimmer brad, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Fancy Favor die, sponge dauber, XL Oval punch, Wisteria Wonder ruffled ribbon, Whisper White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, mini glue dots, stampin' dimensionals, sticky strip

STAMPIN' UP!'S "BEST OF EVERYTHING" FOR INKSPIRATIONS #96 & JAI #94

I really love Stampin' Up!'s sweet stamp set called "Best of Everything", but must admit to having used it only once or twice so far.  I decided to ink it up for a couple of challenges this week.  My colours were decided by this week's Inkspirations Colour Challenge:

and I based my card design (rather loosely) around the sketch that Bron has come up with for Just Add Ink's challenge this week:

I coloured in the little bird using my markers, direct to rubber; the Bashful Blue has come up rather pale on the Very Vanilla card, but hopefully you can still see it okay!

Stamps: Best of Everything, Confetti, Easy Events
Card: Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Very Vanilla
Ink: Crumb Cake stampin' pad, Bashful Blue stampin' pad and marker, Real Red stampin' pad and marker, Peach Parfait marker
Other: Scallop Circle Bigz die, Circle Nestabilities, Stripes embossing folder, Petals-A-Plenty embossing folder, Eyelet Border punch, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Owl Builder punch, sponge daubers, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine and Red Glimmer paper (being released 1st December), Tombow liquid glue

STAMPIN' UP!'S CALYPSO CORAL MEETS BASIC GRAY

I am loving playing with the five new "In Colors" (available for 2 years) in Stampin' Up!'s range.  The co-ordinating ruffled ribbon, and Designer Printed brads, are just too cute.

I have paired Calypso Coral with Basic Gray (toned down by Very Vanilla) in the card I have to show you today.  I just love the sweet little flower that was a breeze to make with the new Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch - and doesn't the cute polka dot brad finish it perfectly?

Stamps: Oval All, Confetti
Card: Basic Gray, Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral
DSP: First Edition Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Gray stampin' pad and marker, Calypso Coral marker, Sahara Sand stampin' pad
Other: Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch, In Color Designer Printed Brad, Calypso Coral ruffled ribbon, Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder, sponge dauber, Large Oval punch, Scallop Oval punch, XL Oval punch, Designer Frames embossing folder, Basic Pearls, mini glue dots

BUTTON BUDDIES FOR LYNDA

I used my new Button Buddies stamp set (in the new catalogue, out 1st September), from Stampin' Up!, to make a birthday card for my sis, who rather likes 'cute'.  The pig stamp in this set definitely qualifies as cute!

My trusty Color Coach suggested the colour combo of Pink Pirouette, Early Espresso and Baja Breeze.  Gorgeous.  Forgive the rather blown-out colours in the photo, but I got all excited about a rare burst of sunshine and photographed it outside before giving the card to the birthday girl.  I stamped both the base card, and the white panel across the middle, with tiny hearts in Pink Pirouette.  After stamping and crimping the sentiment, I spritzed it with Pink Pirouette as well.

Here's the card I came up with, for Lynda:

Stamps: Button Buddies (available 1st September), Curly Cute, Confetti
Card: Pink Pirouette textured, Whisper White
DSP: Baja Breeze and Early Espresso Patterns Designer Series Papers
Ink: Pink Pirouette stampin' pad and marker, Early Espresso stampin' pad, Baja Breeze stampin' pad
Other: Crimper, Basic Rhinestones, 1/16" hole punch, spone dauber, stampin' dimensionals, pink button from stash, embroidery thread, Color Spritzer tool

COLOR LAB CHALLENGE #43

As soon as I saw this week's Color Lab challenge, I knew I wanted to use my new Eat Chocolate stamp set.  Ordinarily, I wouldn't think to put these colours together, but I love the addition of the blue to the other rich colours that I often reach for.

I made a gift set, of a little treat bag/box (I have decided it's a bag, but couldn't decided whether to use a little clip, or ribbon, to fasten it, so have left it open for now!), and a 10cm square card.  I think I had my head on a bit crooked when I stamped the card, but I love the little bag!  Take a look:

Don't those colours look great together?!

Here are closer shots of the bag and card, and lists of the Stampin' Up! products used to create them:

Stamps: Eat Chocolate, Confetti, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card: Riding Hood Red textured, Whisper White
DSP: Early Espresso and Not Quite Navy Patterns Designer Series Papers
Ink: Riding Hood Red stampin' pad and marker, Early Espresso stampin' pad and marker, Not Quite Navy stampin' pad and marker
Other: Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die (and Big Shot), Scallop Edge punch, Decorative Label punch, Two-Step Owl punch (for the tiny heart), Early Espresso 1/8" taffeta ribbon, sponge daubers, sticky strip, mini glue dot, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Stamps: Eat Chocolate, Confetti

Ink: Early Espresso stampin' pad and marker, Riding Hood Red stampin' pad and marker, Not Quite Navy stampin' pad and marker
Other: 1 3/4" Circle punch, 2 3/8" Scallop circle punch, sponge daubers

I hope you manage to fit some stamping, and chocolate, into your day!

JUST ADD INK #68 ... and MOJO MONDAY #191 ..... and SUO CHALLENGE #19

I had a really rewarding couple of hours in my craft room last night.  Since returning home from Stampin' Up! Convention, my head has been so full of ideas that I've been unable to sit still and FOCUS!  I've really missed playing with my stamps, though, so was pleased that a bit of inspiration came my way last night.

I absolutely love the colours in this week's Just Add Ink challenge; I've not used them together before, but WOW - how gorgeous do they look?!

I've combined these scrumptious colours with this week's Mojo Monday sketch; this is my first EVER entry over at Mojo Monday, which is pretty exciting (for me, at least!).  I decided this sketch worked beautifully with my new stamp set that I was itching to ink up.  Here's the sketch I worked from (although I opted not to add a square under the scalloped circle):

...... and here's the result, that I am also entering in the current SUO Challenge, to use flowers in a project.  Tulips are my all-time favourite flower (well, peonies come a very, very close second).  I had white tulips as my wedding bouquet, just in case you like reading a bit of personal trivia :) .......

Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons, Occasional Greetings, Confetti
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze textured, Watercolour paper
DSP: Pear Pizzazz Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Versamark inkpad, Jet Black Staz-On inkpad, Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Peach Parfait marker (for the bird's tiny beak!)
Other: Blender pens, Two-Step  Owl Punch XL, Circles #2 die, 1 3/4" circle punch, 2 3/8" Scallop circle punch, Square Lattice embossing folder, white embossing powder, Itty Bitty Shapes flower punch, Neutrals brad, sponge daubers, Whisper White organza ribbon

I really love this card; it makes me happy.  Hope it does the same for you :)

"CUTE BY THE INCH" OWL CARD

Thanks to my awesome Stampin' Up! customers excitedly placing orders during Sale-a-bration, I was recently able to earn the "Cute by the Inch" stamp set I'd had my eye on.  This set of stamps has some very sweet images in it; not the least of which is the owl.

It was about time I broke out the Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper, that I just HAD to have, but that hasn't been shown much love lately.  I'm really into earthy tones, and these papers are perfect for 'brown and green' projects.  Here's the card I made last night:

Stamps: Cute by the Inch, Confetti, Tiny Tags, Itty Bitty Bits
Card: Crumb Cake, Wild Wasabi textured, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green
DSP: Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake, Garden Green and Chocolate Chip stampin' pads
Other: 1 1/4" square punch, 1 3/8" square punch, Medium Jewelry Tag punch, Itty Bitty Shapes circle punch, Neutrals button, Linen Thread, sponge daubers, mini glue dots

JUST ADD INK #58 .... FAREWELL AMANDA & DANIELLE :(

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink is to choose a project made by Amanda and/or Danielle, and use it as an inspiration for our own papercraft project.  Amanda and Danielle have handed over the reins of Just Add Ink, to Delys and Bronwyn .... two long-time Design Team members who I am sure will continue to run this fabulous site in a manner that will make the founders proud.

I have chosen this card of Amanda's as inspiration for my first card.  SUCH a cute card, don't you think?  I challenged myself to use Stampin' Up! only products.  Since I am sewing-impaired, I used a perforating tool to create wavy lines around the top panel; I then used a white gel pen to draw over the lines.  My circular panel is a smaller size than Amanda's, so I shifted the sentiment 'elsewhere' to try to balance out the elements.  Here's what I came up with, using the cutesy retired "Good Neighbors" stamp set:

Stamps: Good Neighbors, Short & Sweet
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Real Red textured
Ink: Crumb Cake stampin' pad and marker, Real Red stampin' pad and marker, Old Olive marker
Other: Birds & Blooms sizzlits die, 1 3/4" Circle punch, 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Old Olive taffeta ribbon, sponge daubers, Metallic brad, sticky strip, Modern Label punch, perforating tool, white gel pen, stampin' dimensionals, blender pen

The card I chose to "CASE" from Danielle is this one.  Now, I wouldn't even attempt to emulate Danielle's ability to tie divine bows ... so I've gone for more of a 'rosette' look!

Stamps: Aviary, Confetti, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
DSP: Love Letter Designer Series Paper
Ink: Early Espresso stampin' pad and marker, Riding Hood Red and Crumb Cake stampin' pads
Other: Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Crochet trim, Antique Brad, Stamp-a-ma-jig, sponge dauber, sticky strip, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, stampin' dimensionals

Despite feeling a bit daunted by this challenge, when I first saw it at Just Add Ink, I've had a lot of fun making these cards.  Thanks, girls, for always being a source of inspiration to me!

THREE CHALLENGES, ONE CARD

I'm hoping I haven't missed the deadline at Stacey's Stamping Stage for this week's Curtain Call #68 (not too sure on time zones, but I have my fingers crossed that I'm scraping in!).  Stacey has put forward this colour combination to work with:

For the first time in a while, I was inspired to also work with a sketch (you might know that I find these particularly difficult!).  Here's the sketch challenge from Inkspirations:

Now, I also want to enter this card in this week's SUO Challenge, which is to use Stampin' Around wheels in our creations, but am unsure if it qualifies.  I don't have any of Stampin' Up!'s oval dies, so I used Nestabilities to cut the oval and scalloped oval on my card.  I'll link it up anyway, in the hope that this is okay!

Here's what I made; the layout is a bit outside of my comfort zone, but I really like how it turned out, and hope you do, too!

Stamps: Confetti, Friends 24-7, Take A Sip Stampin' Around wheel
Card: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi textured, Pink Pirouette
DSP: Melon Mambo Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Crumb Cake stampin' pad and marker, Jet Black Staz-On inkpad, Whisper White craft stampin' pad, Pink Pirouette stampin' pad and marker, Melon Mambo marker, Wild Wasabi marker
Other: Finial Press embossing folder, Basic Pearls, sponge daubers, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Nestabilities

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Isn't it great that it's the weekend?!
