JAI #70 SKETCH MEETS CTD #144 COLOUR CHALLENGE

I have had my Stampin' Up! Scallop Circle die for ages (planned to make Christmas cards with it last year, but that didn't eventuate).  Until today, it had been unused.  In the spirit of showing some love to my neglected supplies, I have made a little card that was inspired by this week's sketch over at Just Add Ink

I'm not a circular card kind of girl, so I am very unsure about this one, but I'll share it anyway!    The colour scheme is this week's challenge at The Color Throwdown.

Given my time over, I wouldn't have sponged the edges of the white card with Melon Mambo, but it is what it is!

Stamps: Silhouette Sentiments, Love & Care (both hostess sets), Bella Toile
Card: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Certainly Celery
Ink: Melon Mambo stampin' pad and marker, Certainly Celery stampin' pad and marker, Pumpkin Pie stampin' pad and marker
Other: Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder, Certainly Celery 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Large Oval punch, Scallop Oval punch, sponge daubers, Scallop Circle Die, Nestabilities, mini glue dots

JAI #69 : JUST ADD FUSSY CUTTING

The challenge at Just Add Ink this week is to use "fussy cutting" in a papercraft project.  Essentially, this means cutting around an image, or images .... the more intricate the better!  I haven't gone terribly intricate, but I did enjoy the bit of cutting I did to make today's card.

Here's a close-up of my two favourite features of my card.  Check out the shimmer (can you see it??), and the gorgeous waffle pattern I created using my Stampin' Up! Crimper.  Both techniques are so easy to do, but really add a special 'something', don't you think?

Here is the card I made.  I'm loving these colours together, I must say.

Stamps: Because I Care, Silhouette Sentiments (both hostess stamp sets)
Card: Baja Breeze, Whisper White smooth and textured, Watercolour Paper
DSP: Rich Razzleberry Patterns Designer Series Paper
Ink: Jet Black Staz-On inkpad, Rich Razzleberry stampin' pad, Baja Breeze stampin' pad and reinker, Old Olive and Always Artichoke stampin' pads
Other: Aquapainter, paper snips, 1 3/8" x 5/8" Oval punch, Basic Pearls, stampin' dimensionals, Whisper White 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Crimper, mini glue dots, Tombow Multi glue, Frost White shimmer paint (mixed with Isocol to make shimmer spray)

NATURE WALK MEETS BOTANICAL GAZETTE

I have a card to show you, made with Stampin' Up!'s new Nature Walk stamp set, and Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper (hence the less-than-imaginative title of today's blog post).

I was inspired by Bonnie Klass's card, to use the blue bird sheet of paper from my pack (wasn't quite sure what to do with that), and to stamp a little bird inside the cage.  This may be an obvious idea, but I thought it was brilliant, and had completely forgotten I owned the aforementioned bird stamp!  (Oh dear, do you think this girl has a little too much SU! stuff??!!)

I have added Old Olive into the mix, because an all-blue card was a little hard for me to do.  I always feel 'safe' with green!  Here's my vintagey Nature Walk card:

Stamps: Nature Walk, En Francais, Friends 24-7, Silhouette Sentiments, Tiny Tags
Card: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Very Vanilla
DSP: Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper
Ink: Night of Navy stampin' pad and marker, Old Olive and Crumb Cake stampin' pads
Other: Mat Pack and Paper Piercing tool, Curly Label punch, Medium Jewelry Tag punch, Basic Pearls, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Pinking Hearts border punch, sponge daubers, Night of Navy 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, Victoria Crochet Trim, Vintage trinkets, Regals brad

CURTAIN CALL #52 - second card

Well, y'know, once I get an idea in my head, I just don't do things by halves.  Now, it might've taken me 52 weeks to actually take part in a Curtain Call Colour Challenge, but now that I've dipped my toe in, I couldn't just leave it at one card!  The colour combination this week is just stunning.  I am excited, too, because after I complained of having sold off all my Taken With Teal cardstock and ink, I found a scrap of card.  So, that's what I have incorporated in my second card.

Here, again, is the delicious colour combo that Stacey has challenged us with:

...... and here is my second attempt.  I like this one a little better, on the white card base.  What do  you think?  This card uses a few non-Stampin' Up! items; just giving myself a little change today.
