STAMPIN' UP! PACIFIC POINT BIRDS & BRANCHES THANK YOU CARDS

After I had made my card for this week's Pacific Point Colour Creations blog hop, I was inspired by the design on the tissue box on my kitchen bench to make another card featuring this blue.

Here's the inspiration piece:

Using Smoky Slate as my background colour, here is the card I created:

The leafy background was created by inking the foliage stamp (from Forever Fern) in Granny Apple Green, then adding Soft Succulent ink with a sponge dauber to the inked rubber before stamping each time.  Some "stamped off" leaves were added in Soft Succulent ink.  The birds were stamped in Balmy Blue and Pacific Point inks.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp their feet, and added black eyes and beaks using the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends marker.

The flowers are Pierced Blooms die-cuts (the small flower centre die), that I snipped with Paper Snips.  I added some colour to the centres with So Saffron Stampin' Blends, and added In Color Jewels - they're Pale Papaya, but I think work well to give a bit of colour lift.

After die-cutting the main art piece with a Scalloped Contours Die, I mounted it onto my Smoky Slate card base, with a layer of Pacific Point card that had been embossed with a Dotty Hearts embossing folder.

The sentiment, from the Best Year stamp set, was stamped in Pacific Point ink on Smoky Slate card, and cropped with a Stitched Rectangles Die.  I added a couple more flowers to finish off the front.

The second part of the sentiment, also stamped in Pacific Point ink on Smoky Slate card, and cropped with a Stitched Rectangles Die, has been adhered inside the card:

I was quite happy with the outcome of this card, but felt that it was a little dull with the grey background, so I made a second card with Basic White in place of Smoky Slate.  I like this one much better.  What do you think?

I followed the same steps for the creation of this card, just using white in place of grey.  I added only a few In Color Jewels, as the overall look of the card is brighter.

STAMPIN' UP! GARDEN BIRDHOUSES "HELLO" CARD

I had another play with Early Espresso, after making my card for last night's Colour Creations blog hop.  This time I have made a slightly more feminine card.

I love all of Stampin' Up!'s products that incorporate trees and leaves, and have used a few on my card.  The top and bottom of my Blushing Bride card front has been stamped using flowers from Garden Birdhouses, in Blushing Bride ink.

On a Very Vanilla piece, die cut with a Hippo & Friends die, I stamped a couple of branches from the Birds & Branches stamp set, in Early Espresso ink.  I added some Pear Pizzazz leaves from the same stamp set.  Using Early Espresso ink, I stamped two of the birdhouse images from the Garden Birdhouses set.  The hangers are stamped in Crumb Cake ink.  I coloured the larger birdhouse using Crumb Cake and Bronze Stampin' Blends markers.  The smaller birdhouse was coloured using my Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker, and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.  I sponged around the edges of this piece, using a Sponge Dauber, then added a little more Crumb Cake ink to the panel, using a Blending Brush.

In this picture, you can see that on the panel of woodgrain-patterned In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, I used the Stitched Greenery Die.  I adhered an Early Espresso tree, die cut using a Beautiful Trees Die.  The sentiment, from Many Messages, was stamped in Blushing Bride ink on a piece of Very Vanilla card, then die cut using the Messages Die.  I sponged the edges in Crumb Cake ink, and tucked the sentiment label underneath the birdhouse panel that's raised on Stampin' Dimensionals.

Across the card, I laid a length of Blushing Bride Frayed Ribbon, to which I attached (with a Glue Dot) a Crumb Cake twine bow.  On a tiny scrap of Very Vanilla card, I stamped one of the birds from the Garden Birdhouses stamp set, in Early Espresso ink.  I coloured the bird with the Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker, and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends marker, then used a small oval die from the Poppy Moments Die set to cut it out.  I added this little embellishment with glue dots.

I really enjoyed making this card, and I hope it brings a smile to your face.
