STAMPIN' UP! GOOD FEELINGS CARD IN HIGHLAND HEATHER

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Highland Heather, a light purple in Stampin' Up!'s colour range.

Stepping outside my comfort zone, and inclination to make a soft floral card, I had a flash of inspiration to pair Highland Heather with a navy blue.  Night of Navy looked too dull, but Starry Sky (with its purplish tones) turned out to be a lovely choice.

I stamped the Rays of Light stamp on Highland Heather card, using Highland Heather ink.  Even when not used as "sun rays", I think this image is a fantastic graphic background for almost any design of card.

On Basic White card, I stamped the gorgeous (huge!) sentiment, in Starry Sky ink.  After cutting it out with a Deckled Rectangle Die, I ran it back through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine, moving the die a little to crop the panel to a slightly smaller size.

Using a Hydrangea Die, I cut out lots of sweet flowers in Highland Heather, Basic White, Starry Sky and Silver Foil.  I attached Adhesive Sheet to the back of each strip of card before die-cutting, so the flowers were effectively stickers when cut, eliminating any mess when adhering them to the card.

To some flower centres, I added Starry Sky Matte Decorative Dots, and to others I added rhinestones.  I sponged Highland Heather ink around the edges of the Highland Heather card panel, layered this piece on Basic White and Starry Sky card mats, all on a Thick Basic White card base.

Here's a closer look at the focal details:

HEART OF CHRISTMAS WEEK 17: STAMPIN' UP! CHRISTMAS LIGHTS CARD IN CHERRY COBBLER

For tonight's Heart of Christmas blog hop, I've created a card using beautiful Cherry Cobbler and gold papers from Stampin' Up!'s Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper pack, and the Christmas Lights bundle.

The gold embossing of the tree and sentiment don't show up very well in this photo, but the close-up photos down below give a clearer picture.

The "garland" paper is just so beautifully festive, isn't it?  I matted my background paper on a panel of Cherry Cobbler card, and added a wide strip of Distressed Gold Specialty Paper.  Using a Scalloped Contours Die, I cut a piece of the bokeh-patterned Cherry Cobbler paper to show off the lovely gold-embossed Christmas tree.

I stamped the tree in Versamark ink on Very Vanilla card, and heat-embossed it using gold embossing powder.  After cutting out the tree with the co-ordinating die, I topped it with a star cut from Distressed Gold Specialty Paper.  I used my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends marker to colour some Iridiscent Rhinestones, to adorn the tree.

In this photo, you can more clearly see the sentiment, which I stamped in Versamark ink on Cherry Cobbler card, and gold heat-embossed.  I used a Stylish Shapes die to cut out the sentiment banner.
