STAMPIN' UP! BIRTHDAY CARD FOR #TCH#6

I don't normally think to use pink and brown together on my cards, but I had so much fun creating a card the other day for this challenge, that I thought I'd make another!  I still had on my desk some of the supplies used to make this card; I feel quite virtuous having now put them to use, because that's not normally my style. 😉  So, here's my second entry into the current Color Hues challenge.

The stamp set I have used, for the sentiment (speech bubble and words) and the stars on the Soft Suede panel, is the fun new You Are Amazing set, that will be released in Stampin' Up!'s January - June 2021 Mini Catalogue. I've used my rather neglected Butterfly Beauty dies, and Ornate Borders dies (that sweet "holey" border is a favourite).

I inked up the speech bubble in Blushing Bride ink, stamped it off onto scrap paper first, then stamped it onto Whisper White card to get a lighter impression.  The "Happy Birthday" was stamped over the top in Soft Suede ink.

I cut one of the large clusters of butterflies from the Butterfly Beauty dies, from Blushing Bride card.  I then snipped off a couple of butterflies, and have used one of them in the top right corner of my card.  Flowers For Every Season Gems have been added to each of the pink butterflies' bodies.  To balance out the design, I added a couple of tiny butterflies cut from Soft Suede card:

Here's the inside of my card:

I think I like this card more than my first pink and brown creation.  Perhaps this is a colour scheme I should be using a little more; it has been fun working with it.

Listed below are the current Stampin' Up! products I used on my card.  I can't link to the You are Amazing stamp set, until it is released on 5th January.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

STAMPIN' UP! CONGRATULATIONS CARD FOR #TCH#6

The challenge over at Color Hues is to use the following colour combo on a card:

I have been itching to ink up a couple of the stamps from the new You Are Amazing stamp set (to be released on 5th January).  There is a cute speech bubble stamp, and sentiments that fit within it.  I chose Blushing Bride and Soft Suede as my colours, and have come up with this simple but fun card:

The top half of the card is all You Are Amazing.  I've teamed it with the So Much Happy bundle (stars and balloons - great for all occasions!), and added a sentiment from the Last A Lifetime stamp set.  All of my stamping is in Blushing Bride and Soft Suede.  The stars at the top, as you can see, are full-strength, and second-generation stamped impressions.

These are the stamps from You Are Amazing:

... and the stamped and die-cut stars and balloon are from So Much Happy:

I've finished off my card with a bow made of linen thread ... no sponging, no gems/sequins/resin dots.  This is very unusual for me, but I wanted a simple, clean, look.

Listed below are the current Stampin' Up! products used on my card.  (I can't link to the You Are Amazing stamp set, as it is not available to purchase until 5th January ... but I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!)  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 25: MELON MAMBO

For the first time in nearly 6 months, I missed the deadline for our team's weekly Colour Creations Showcase that went live last night.  This week's colour is Melon Mambo.  I wasn't able to get a card made and blogged in time to take part in the group share, but I have come up with a card today - so, all is not lost!

I'd stamped a background piece on some Melon Mambo card, but just wasn't sure what to do with it.  Using the beautiful Very Versailles stamp set, I first stamped the scripty image in Basic Gray ink.  I used Melon Mambo ink to stamp the leaves.  The Stamparatus came in handy for stamping both of these rather large images, both in the way of placement, and being able to re-stamp the leaves to get a darker impression than achieved at first.  I used a splotchy stamp from Forever Fern, and Basic Gray ink,  to fill in some gaps in the design.

The new Curvy Dies became one of the features of my card.  I cut the Melon Mambo stamped panel vertically, using one of the dies, and trimmed down the straight edge of the left-hand panel to allow for a bit of a gap between the curved edges.  To soften the Basic Gray card that forms the mat to my main panel, I cut a Square Vellum doily in half (vertically), and adhered the two pieces behind the curved die cut eges.

Butterfly Gala is the stamp set I used for the butterflies and the sentiment.  I stamped three of the butterflies in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamped Melon Mambo wings, and Basic Gray bodies.  I used Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to add a bit more colour and interest to the butterflies.  Once finished, I painted Wink of Stella glimmer over the butterflies.  The other two small butterflies are silver-embossed on Whisper White card.

The larger butterly is raised up on Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, and in the next two photos you can see the Wink of Stella touches to the butterflies:

I have used Frosted & Clear Epoxy dots on the large butterfly, and the sentiment panel:

Here's a closer view of the Square Vellum Doily peeking through:
